Basic Obedience for Life and Sports This is a basic 101 obedience course taught using positive reinforcement and non-forceful techniques. Humans are asked to bring their dog with only a buckle collar or walking harness, a solid lead, treats and a positive attitude. Basic obedience manners will be taught and real life distractions will be presented as well. The instructor will also address when and where these commands come in handy while living “real life” with a dog. To register, click here!
SQUIRREL?!?! This is for the dog who acts like he is hard of hearing but is clearly not. This class focuses on getting and keeping a dog’s attention even in the face of irresistible distractions like squirrels. This is a “recall” class, meaning it’s about getting a dog to come even if they would rather keep investigating the great outdoors. Dogs must be able to tolerate working with other dogs and people in a group setting. To register, click here!
A garage/yard sale fundraiser is being held at the former Frisco community center for Lolli Piper Hope on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Lolli is a 4-year-old girl who was recently diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a fast spreading form of cancer usually affecting children. As a result of this disease Lolli has had to have her left foot amputated to prevent the cancer from spreading further. When local Trish Demogola heard Lolli’s story about her love of dancing and how cancer has affected her; she immediately knew she needed to act to support Lolli and her family. Trish has already raised over $2,600 by organizing a “Pump Gas for Lolli” event at the Frisco Loaf N’ Jug which she manages. Red White and Blue Fire Rescue and Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue fire fighters pumped gas and cleaned car windshields to raise money for Lolli’s medical expenses. Trish is organizing this garage/yard sale in the hope of raising more resources for Lolli’s family and to express the community’s ongoing support.

Halloween will kick off in Frisco on October 18th with a book reading and signing and face painting at the Stork & Bear Co! The just released Switchcrafted – The Story of the Switch Witches of Halloween will be presented by Pam Hatcher (co-author) and Milena Kirkova (illustrator). This story engages children to give back and make healthy choices all while still having fun during Halloween. Children are invited to become a part of the spirit of this book by donating their Halloween candy, after selecting their favorites first, of course. Stork & Bear Co. is partnering with the Frisco Information Center (300 Main Street), Frisco Elementary and Summit County Preschool as drop off points for donated candy from November 1 – 3. This candy will then be donated to a veterans/active military organization so that it will be enjoyed by many. At each drop off location, Stork & Bear Co. will provide a 10% off coupon good for a toy purchase for every child who donates candy, and in addition to that, the Frisco Information Center will also offer a small gift at their location for any donated candy.
Don’t miss Woodward’s next Skate/BMX Bowl Jam on November 1st! Excessive candy consumption and shredding will be encouraged.
