Maroon Bells Birthday Bash @ Base of Aspen Highlands Ski Area
Aug 2 @ 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Maroon Bells Birthday Bash @ Base of Aspen Highlands Ski Area

Party like it’s 1964!

That was the year that the Wilderness Act established the first 54 wilderness areas, including the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. This 50th anniversary is a fitting moment to celebrate that bold legacy and to throw a giant, joyful party for our beloved Maroon Bells.

The Maroon Bells Birthday Bash will be a good-old-fashioned, family-friendly party – complete with cake and candles! And given the Bells’ fame, it promises to be something of a reunion for fans from around the state and beyond.

The outdoor festival will run from 3 to 9 p.m. (see schedule) and will feature live music by four bands, an address by author/activist Rick Bass, a Ute Nation ceremony, kids’ activities and wilderness displays.

Advance tickets are just $10 for adults, with kids 12 and under free (and that includes cake!). Parking is also free. The Highlands Alehouse will offer special food and drink deals.

The Bash is a presentation of the Wilderness WorkshopAspen Center for Environmental Studies and the US Forest Service. A half-dozen other organizations will also offer a range of free pre-Bash activities including wilderness hikes, projects and educational programs.

In addition to celebrating our regional landscape, this daylong event will raise awareness about the benefits of our wilderness areas as well as stewardship challenges faced in the future.
