March 8, 2014
1:00pm - 6:00pm
Springtime in the Rocky Mountains heralds the arrival of an annual tradition: festival season, and the Blitzenbanger Winter Brew-Au at Aspen Highlands leads the line-up. KSPN’s annual birthday bash gets bigger and better for 2014, featuring fan favorites from past years – like the on-mountain scavenger hunt starting at 9 a.m.– plus a new beer festival with a spring-inspired Hawaiian luau theme and free live music from 1-6 p.m. One of the oldest community-wide celebrations of spring in the mountain region, the Blitzenbanger tradition continues on March 8, 2014.
This year’s Blitzenbanger 2.0 features an unlimited-tasting beer festival highlighting 10 to 15 local and regional brewers. A full list of attending breweries will be announced later in February, and includes Aspen Brewing Company, Deschutes Brewery and Oskar Blues Brewery. The steady stream of suds is accompanied by free live music from Eminence Ensemble, The Starletts and more plus a seemingly endless list of prizes for the on-mountain Scavenger Hunt that only a station like KSPN can procure including a $500 guided backcountry ski tour from Aspen Expeditions, a Season Parking Pass for Aspen Highlands valued at $395, catering gift certificates from Heidi’s Deli and passes to the Aspen Recreation Center among others!
The 2014 Blitzenbanger Winter Brew-Au takes place from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at the Aspen Highlands Base Area and Prospector Village Plaza. Highlands Ale House will feature a pig roast and BBQ on their deck. Aloha Mountain Cyclery will be showcasing fat bike demos with an on-snow course for guests to ride. Guests can also “get lei’d” at the It’s My Party booth throughout the day. Brew-Au tickets for unlimited beer tasting can be purchased the day of the event for $20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Aspen Highlands Base Area (lift ticket not included or needed to enter event). All beer tasting tickets pre-purchased by March 7 include a complimentary Blitzenbanger t-shirt (sizes not guaranteed). A portion of the proceeds from the Blitzenbanger Brew-Au will be donated to the United Way of Garfield and Pitkin County.
Breweries confirmed for 2014: Aspen Brewing Company, Bristol Brewing Company, Deschutes Brewery, Elevation Brewing Company, Grand Lake Brewing Company, Great Divide Brewing Company, Oskar Blues Brewery, Palisade Brewery (more to come; subject to change).
