The tracks are part of a 7-inch vinyl series, dubbed <em>Fug Yep Soundation<\/em>, created for Swift and mark the Shins\u2019 first new music since their 2017 album <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/review-the-shins-heartworms-is-a-tender-home-brewed-charmer-111911\/\"><em>Heartworms<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Both tracks were written and produced by Shins frontman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/james-mercer\/\" id=\"auto-tag_james-mercer\" data-tag=\"james-mercer\">James Mercer<\/a>. The proceeds from sales of <em>Fug Yep<\/em> will support the Swift family, as well as MusiCares and Music Support UK. The goal of the series is to \u201craise awareness for addiction and bring community to those suffering.\u201d Fans can purchase the 7-inch <a href=\"https:\/\/fugyep.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Swift, who performed with the Shins and the Black Keys, died of alcohol-related illness last July at 41. The musician, who also produced artists like Foxygen, Sharon Van Etten and Damien Jurado, owned and founded the Oregon recording studio National Freedom, and released his posthumous LP, <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/richard-swift-sept20-posthumous-lp-hex-727550\/\">The Hex<\/a>,&nbsp;<\/i>last fall.<\/p>\n<p>James Mercer\u2019s other band, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/broken-bells\/\" id=\"auto-tag_broken-bells\" data-tag=\"broken-bells\">Broken Bells<\/a><\/em>, have been working on their third album. Mercer and his collaborator Danger Mouse released a new song, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/broken-bells-new-song-good-luck-new-album-890520\/\">\u201cGood Luck,\u201d<\/a> in September.
