{"id":973430,"date":"2019-11-11T07:48:13","date_gmt":"2019-11-11T14:48:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=910124"},"modified":"2019-11-11T07:48:13","modified_gmt":"2019-11-11T14:48:13","slug":"black-crowes-reunite-plot-2020-shake-your-money-maker-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kfmu\/music-news\/black-crowes-reunite-plot-2020-shake-your-money-maker-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Black Crowes Reunite, Plot 2020 \u2018Shake Your Money Maker\u2019 Tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/black-crowes-2.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/black-crowes\/\" id=\"auto-tag_black-crowes\" data-tag=\"black-crowes\">Black Crowes<\/a>\u2019 Chris and Rich Robinson will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album, <i>Shake Your Money Maker<\/i>, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/theblackcrowes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">2020 tour<\/a> that will mark their first live shows since 2013.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The 46-date run will kick off June 17th at the Austin360 Amphitheater in Austin, Texas and stretch throughout the summer, wrapping September 19th at the Forum in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">To mark the tour announcement, the band will play an intimate gig at New York\u2019s Bowery Ballroom tonight, November 11th, and at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on Thursday, November 14th.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI think this is pure. We went off into a lot of things. There\u2019s no jamming,\u201d Chris Robinson tells&nbsp;<em>Rolling Stone<\/em> in an upcoming interview. \u201cThere\u2019s no extraneous stuff. This is the purest Black Crowes that people first [heard] \u2026 I hope we reconnect with some people who lost their way with us because of all of our other shit we were doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The brothers\u2019 fighting has become almost as well-known as their music, but the two insist the <em>Behind the Music&nbsp;<\/em>phase is over and they\u2019ve made peace with each other. \u201cNo one is here to be a dick,\u201d says Rich. \u201cWe love this music. We\u2019re musicians. We\u2019re brothers. We love each other. We love this opportunity \u2026 Changing the context with Chris and I and all new people is a much healthier place for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The duo enlisted all-new members that include guitarist Isiah Mitchell of psych-rock band Earthless, veteran session bassist Tim LeFebvre who appeared on David Bowie\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Blackstar<\/em> and keyboardist Joel Robinow and drummer Ojha of prog\/psych-pop group Once and Future Band.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Released in February 1990, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/shake-your-money-maker-252810\/\"><i>Shake Your Money Maker<\/i><\/a> peaked at Number Four on the <i>Billboard <\/i>200, while album cuts \u201cJealous Again,\u201d \u201cHard to Handle,\u201d \u201cShe Talks to Angels\u201d and \u201cSeeing Things\u201d all cracked the Top 10 on the Mainstream Rock chart. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-black-crowes\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-black-crowes\" data-tag=\"the-black-crowes\">The Black Crowes<\/a>\u2019 next album, 1992\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/the-southern-harmony-and-musical-companion-195687\/\"><i>The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion<\/i><\/a>, was equally successful, topping the <i>Billboard <\/i>200.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Over the next nine years, the Black Crowes released four more albums before announcing their first hiatus. Three years later, the Robinsons reassembled the Black Crowes for a handful of shows, and in 2007 they returned to the studio, releasing a new album, <i>Warpaint<\/i>, the following year. Another LP, <i>Before the Frost\u2026 Until the Freeze<\/i>, arrived in 2009, while an acoustic collection, <i>Croweology<\/i> came in 2010.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">But soon after, the band was on hiatus again \u2014 though by 2013 there was another reunion tour.
