Pink Floyd\u2019s Roger Waters<\/a> will deliver one of the keynote speeches at next year\u2019s South by Southwest, set to take place March 13th through 22nd in Austin, Texas.<\/p>\n

An exact date and venue have yet to be announced for Waters\u2019 speech, and it\u2019s unclear what exactly the musician will discuss. Previous musicians to deliver the SXSW<\/a> keynote address include Bruce Springsteen<\/a>, Dave Grohl<\/a>, Lady Gaga<\/a>, Garth Brooks<\/a>, Snoop Dogg<\/a> and the Beastie Boys<\/a>\u2018 Ad-Rock and Mike D.<\/p>\n

Waters has had a relatively quiet 2019 after spending much of 2017 and 2018 touring the world with his Us + Them show. The performance<\/a> featured dozens of Pink Floyd hits, Waters\u2019 solo material and an engrossing light show with heavily political overtones \u2014 including imagery that took on Donald Trump, Mark Zuckerberg, Palestine, anti-Semitism, the military industrial complex, neo-fascism and more. In October, a concert film \u2014 shot at the tour\u2019s 2018 stop in Amsterdam \u2014 screened in movie<\/a> theaters around the world.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone<\/i><\/a>, Waters spoke about how the film helped him see how much the Us + Them show actually affected people, saying, \u201cThere\u2019s one woman in the film who is singing along with the second verse in [Is This the Life<\/em>\u2019s] \u2018D\u00e9j\u00e0 Vu\u2019 \u2014 I can\u2019t remember which line \u2014 but she\u2019s got a little tear running down her cheek. And I think, \u2018Wow. I must have done something right that these young, young people are responding to work that I created when I was 74 years old.\u2019 It\u2019s moving. So I\u2019ve done something right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with Waters, SXSW has also tapped filmmaker and author Erin Lee Carr to deliver the festival\u2019s first film keynote address. Carr has helmed a variety of projects, including true-crime docs like Mommy Dead and Dearest<\/i><\/a> and I Love You, Now Die<\/i><\/a>. She most recently directed At the Heart of Gold<\/i> about a sex abuse scandal that rocked U.S. gymnastics. In April, Carr published a memoir, All That You Leave Behind<\/em>, which touched on her career as a filmmaker and served as a tribute to her father, the late columnist, David Carr.<\/p>\n

Other speakers set to appear at SXSW next year include 50 Cent, Mumford & Sons\u2019 Ben Lovett, bassist and YouTuber Adam Neely and designer Tommy Hilfiger.<\/p>\n
