When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? <\/em>was the third most-streamed album on on-demand in 2019, according to our calculations \u2014 and it seems Billie Eilish<\/a> wants to finish the year out strong. On Wednesday, she dropped \u201cEverything I Wanted,\u201d a tribute to her brother and collaborator, Finneas \u2014 and a meditation on fame.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter what happens, we always have been and will be there to make it better,\u201d Eilish said in a statement. Finneas produced Eilish\u2019s debut album, adding in a bevy of intriguing sound effects \u2014 from a crosswalk\u2019s click to a clip from The Office<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The song shows a softer, sadder version of Eilish, her whisper-hum vocals subdued as she sings, \u201cI had a dream\/I got everything I wanted\/Not what you think\/And if I\u2019m being honest\/It might have been a nightmare.\u201d It then delves into her feelings about being a global phenom (\u201cIf they knew what they said would go straight to my head\/What would they say instead?\u201d) as well as her love for her brother and his unending support (\u201cIf I could change the way that you see yourself\/You wouldn\u2019t wonder why\/They don\u2019t deserve you\u201d).<\/p>\n

Eilish released her debut album in March of 2019; at the time, Rolling Stone <\/em>described Eilish as<\/a> \u201cthe demon spawn of Lana Del Rey\u2019s California dreams.\u201d The 17-year-old also appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> this summer in the midst of a sold-out tour, waxing poetic about sleep paralysis, synesthesia and the Babadook. She was also featured in our special \u201cMusician on Musicians\u201d issue<\/a>, in which she spoke with Green Day\u2019s Billy Joe Armstrong.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been surprised people like my music,\u201d Eilish told Armstrong. \u201cBecause there\u2019s such a world of liking nothing, music that\u2019s not really doing anything. I remember having this conversation with my mom about \u2018Bury a Friend.\u2019 We were like, \u2018Nobody\u2019s gonna give a fuck, because the lyrics are \u201cI want to end me.\u201d\u2019 And I really, honestly did not think anyone would care. That\u2019s why this whole ride has been so weird.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eilish is set to embark on another sold-tour<\/a> in support of When We All Fall Asleep<\/em> next March.<\/p>\n
