Instead, it\u2019s a super-bright, festive pi\u00f1ata \u2014 just packed with goodies that no one bargained for.<\/p>\n<p>Alan Palomo dropped \u201cToyota Man\u201d with a dizzying self-directed video that tells an alternate history of the Monterrey, Mexico native\u2019s life story (his parents make an appearance). Palomo kicks off the video standing at the U.S.-Mexico border flipping through Spanish cue cards \u2014 very Dylanesque \u2014 then finds himself hired to wash a bunch of Toyotas. The musician takes a rag to a red vehicle in what could be an ode to Kenneth Anger\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OBdV8td1ukI\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cKustom Kar Kommandos,\u201d<\/a> as a Trump-shaped pi\u00f1ata comes to life at a backyard party and makes a run for it. There\u2019s a puppet show about migrant labor, a cowboy giving birth to cars and all manner of wackiness before the Trump-ata gets hits by a car, spilling green cards across the road.<\/p>\n<p>Palomo\u2019s first song in Spanish, \u201cToyota Man\u201d pulls from a variety of recognizable tunes for its source material: Spanish folk song \u201cLa Cucaracha,\u201d \u201cThe Star-Spangled Banner,\u201d Selena\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/flashback-jennifer-lopez-pays-tribute-to-slain-singer-selena-58654\/\">Bidi Bidi Bom Bom<\/a>\u201d and Miley Cyrus\u2019 \u201cParty in the U.S.A.\u201d Soaked in a heavy dose of Neon Indian\u2019s characteristic chillwave, \u201cToyota Man\u201d finds Palomo singing about migrant laborers and DACA recipients: \u201cWe came here to study\/We want to work\/We\u2019re all Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The track is Palomo\u2019s first new music since 2015\u2019s&nbsp;<em>VEGA INTL. Night School<\/em> and hints at a new direction for the indie-rock mainstay.
