It was the end of their 158-date \u201cFinal Tour\u201d that they swore was their grand finale. They even signed a \u201ccessation of touring activity\u201d contact at a press conference, claiming it\u2019d be impossible for them to play again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLegally, we can\u2019t play again,\u201d bassist Nikki Sixx claimed to <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> backstage at a 2014 show in Denver. \u201cThe only loophole is if all four band members agreed to do it, we could override our own contract. But we know that will never happen. There are people in this band who will refuse to ever do it again, and you\u2019re talking to one of them. There is no amount of money that would ever make me do it again because I have such pride in how we\u2019re ending it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Like all shows on the final tour, the Forum concert centered around their vast catalog of hits and wrapped up with \u201cKickstart My Heart\u201d and \u201cHome Sweet Home.\u201d A lot of fans were cynical they\u2019d pull a Kiss and just keep touring even as the group assured fans otherwise. \u201cIf anybody ever \u2014 and I don\u2019t believe anybody ever would \u2014 would call any other band members and say, \u2018Hey, it\u2019s been 10 years, let\u2019s just do 10 shows. A million a pop,\u2019 it could never happen unless all four band members agreed,\u201d Sixx told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>. \u201cAnd if we did agree, the way we\u2019ve set it up \u2014 including this conversation right now \u2014 we\u2019d have so much egg on our face. We have so much pride that that alone would stop it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> <!-- .l-article-content__pull--left --> <\/p>\n<p>But the band refused to show the media their supposed \u201ccessation of touring activity\u201d contract despite numerous requests and, unsurprisingly, they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/motley-crue-def-leppard-poison-set-2020-stadium-tour-913823\/\">announced a 2020 reunion tour earlier this week.<\/a> The group hasn\u2019t granted any interviews yet to explain the decision, but they did release a video showing the contract bursting into flames. Once a sacred document, they now dismiss it as a \u201cstupid contract\u201d via a voiceover from Machine Gun Kelly.
