Bryce Dessner<\/a> of the National<\/a> unveils the new acoustic ballad, \u201cPope Francis,\u201d premiering via Rolling Stone<\/em>. The song appears in the upcoming Netflix<\/a> film, The Two Popes<\/em><\/a>. Dessner scored the soundtrack, which is available for preorder<\/a> and will be released on December 6th via Milan Records.<\/p>\n

The contemplative song was recorded at Abbey Road and features London Contemporary Orchestra. It opens with a tender guitar melody, which blends with warm orchestral swells in the arrangement.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wrote this simple guitar piece for one of the most important moments in the film,\u201d Dessner tells Rolling Stone<\/em>. \u201cI had such an amazing time working on The Two Popes<\/em> with director Fernando Meirelles and getting to go on set in Rome during the filming and meet Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce.\u201d<\/p>\n
