{"id":973680,"date":"2019-11-22T09:20:02","date_gmt":"2019-11-22T16:20:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=916472"},"modified":"2019-11-22T09:20:02","modified_gmt":"2019-11-22T16:20:02","slug":"the-who-revert-to-the-seventies-with-new-song-i-dont-wanna-get-wise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kfmu\/music-news\/the-who-revert-to-the-seventies-with-new-song-i-dont-wanna-get-wise\/","title":{"rendered":"The Who Revert to the Seventies With New Song \u2018I Don\u2019t Wanna Get Wise\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/the-who-new-song.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-who\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-who\" data-tag=\"the-who\">The Who<\/a> have dropped a fiery new song \u201cI Don\u2019t Wanna Get Wise,\u201d off their upcoming LP <em>Who<\/em>, out December 6th via Interscope Records.<\/p>\n<p>The track features a thrashing guitar riff with reflective lyrics: \u201cAll the shit that we did\/Bought us some money I guess\/And those snotty young kids\/Were a standing success.\u201d The song is reminiscent of the band\u2019s 1975 album <em>The Who by Numbers.<\/em> \u201cI wrote this in a mid Seventies style,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/pete-townshend\/\" id=\"auto-tag_pete-townshend\" data-tag=\"pete-townshend\">Pete Townshend<\/a> said in a statement. \u201cWarning: Don\u2019t get old. You might get wise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The band also announced two bonus tracks on the LP unearthed from the Sixties \u2014 \u201cGot Nothing to Prove\u201d and \u201cSand.\u201d The latter will be released on triple red, white and blue vinyl. Townshend recently discovered \u201cSand\u201d while digging through archive material for box sets. \u201cI was going through and I found this demo called \u2018Sand,\u2019 which was a song that I demoed for the Who in 1966,\u201d he told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> in January. \u201cI don\u2019t quite know why we didn\u2019t record it, but we didn\u2019t. It\u2019s a song about being on the beach. It\u2019s about a love affair that was built on sand \u2014 but quite dark.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Who<\/em> is the band\u2019s first new album in 13 years, after 2006\u2019s <em>Endless Wire.<\/em> \u201cI Don\u2019t Wanna Get Wise\u201d follows the previous singles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/the-who-album-ball-and-chain-883875\/\">\u201cBall and Chain,\u201d<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/the-who-new-song-all-this-music-must-fade-894248\/\">\u201cAll This Music Must Fade\u201d<\/a> and \u201cBig Cigar,\u201d the latter of which they\u2019ve been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/the-who-new-song-big-cigars-879225\/\">performing live<\/a> on their <em>Moving On!<\/em> tour.
