{"id":973817,"date":"2019-12-02T15:03:40","date_gmt":"2019-12-02T22:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=920679"},"modified":"2019-12-02T15:03:40","modified_gmt":"2019-12-02T22:03:40","slug":"pearl-jams-holiday-singles-are-coming-to-streaming-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kfmu\/music-news\/pearl-jams-holiday-singles-are-coming-to-streaming-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Pearl Jam\u2019s Holiday Singles are Coming to Streaming Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/pearl-jam-holiday-songs.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/pearl-jam\/\" id=\"auto-tag_pearl-jam\" data-tag=\"pearl-jam\">Pearl Jam<\/a> emerged from a long slumber today by announcing not just a European tour, but also the news that their fan club holiday singles will be released to streaming services.<\/p>\n<p>They are rolling out the songs one at a time under the banner<em> 12 Days of Pearl Jam<\/em>, beginning today with Stevie Wonder\u2019s \u201cSomeday at Christmas.\u201d It\u2019s unclear which one will come next.<\/p>\n<p>Pearl Jam started the tradition of releasing holiday songs back in 1991 when they dropped \u201cLet Me Sleep (Christmas Time)\u201d as a vinyl single to members of their fan club. They continued the custom nearly every year until 2017, covering \u201cDon\u2019t Believe in Christmas\u201d by the Sonics, \u201cI Believe in Miracles\u201d by the Ramones, \u201cSonic Reducer\u201d by the Dead Boys and several other songs.<\/p>\n<p>In 1998, a cover of Wayne Cochran\u2019s 1961 classic \u201cLast Kiss\u201d was released on a holiday single and became one of the biggest hits of their career.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rGCnzz9H0Ws?version=3&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;autohide=2&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This has been the first year in Pearl Jam history that the group didn\u2019t perform live, although Eddie Vedder did play numerous solo gigs. This morning, they <a href=\"https:\/\/pearljam.com\/tour\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">announced a 2020 summer tour<\/a> in Europe that kicks off June 23rd in Frankfurt, Germany and wraps up July 22nd in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It is unknown if the tour will bring them to America at any point.<\/p>\n<p>The status of their followup to 2013\u2019s <em>Lightning Bolt<\/em> is also unknown, but this is the longest they\u2019ve ever gone without releasing a new album. \u201cWe\u2019ve been busy toiling in the studio on and off for seven years,\u201d guitarist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/pearl-jam-mike-mccready-interview-johnny-cash-doc-909877\/\">Mike McCready told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> in November.<\/a> \u201cWe\u2019re working at our own pace, and doing some music right now, and it\u2019s cool and different and I\u2019m excited about it. But we\u2019re not finished with anything yet. So I wish I had an answer for you, but know that we are recording right now.
