Jim Jarmusch<\/a>\u2019s band Sq\u00fcrl pay musical tribute to the late Robby M\u00fcller \u2014 the filmmaker\u2019s long-time collaborator and cinematographer \u2014 with the duo\u2019s new album.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some Music for Robby M\u00fcller \u2014<\/em> out January 31st, 2020 and available to preorder<\/a> now through Sacred Bones \u2014 serves as the score for Claire Pijman\u2019s Living the Light<\/em>, a documentary about the legendary cinematographer who died in July 2018<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cRobby became my close friend, my collaborator and my teacher too. From him I learned about the emotional qualities of light, about telling stories with a camera, about artistic intuition, collaboration, and integrity,\u201d Jarmusch said in a statement. <\/span>\u201cWe worked together on the films Down by Law<\/em>, Mystery Train<\/em>, Dead Man<\/em>, parts of Coffee and Cigarettes<\/em>, and Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai<\/em>. We spent time together in many interesting places in the world, and became parts of each other\u2019s families. Honestly, I can\u2019t even begin express all that I learned from Robby, the joy I had just being with him, or the depth of my respect for him as a compassionate, energetic and rebellious human being. I miss him very much.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
