Run the Jewels<\/a>\u2019 El-P<\/a> will bring his solo records to streaming services for the first time. The rapper\u2019s 2007 LP I\u2019ll Sleep When You\u2019re Dead \u2014<\/em> originally released via his Def Jux label and long unavailable on streaming services \u2014 kicks off the digital reissue campaign Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout 2020, El-P will continue to drop Def Jux albums from his solo catalogs onto DSPs, as well as physical reissues of El-P\u2019s LPs via Fat Possum.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ll Sleep When You\u2019re Dead<\/em> features guests like Trent Reznor, the Mars Volta, Cat Power, Aesop Rock and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis record means a lot to me. Really, it\u2019s a collection of short stories written from multiple perspectives\u2026 different characters living in the same confused, askew city of \u2018Poisenville.\u2019 No one is right in these stories and no one has the moral high ground but everyone is trying to keep themselves from suffocating under the weight of their own reality and faults,\u201d El-P said of the album in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll Sleep When You\u2019re Dead<\/em> began as what I imagined the city of \u2018Poisenville\u2019 was saying to its inhabitants as a retort to being called a \u2018city that never sleeps,\u2019 but it ends with the discovery of something bigger than the maze of inner turmoil these characters feel: a resolve to fight for life, even if it\u2019s someone else\u2019s.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

El-P\u2019s last solo album was 2012\u2019s Cancer 4 Cure<\/em>, after which he aligned with Killer Mike to form Run the Jewels; the duo have released three acclaimed self-titled albums, with Run the Jewels 4<\/em> reportedly in the works.<\/span><\/p>\n
