Kaytranada<\/a> recruited Pharrell<\/a> Williams and Tinashe<\/a> for his upcoming second LP, Bubba<\/i>, out December 13th via RCA Records. The Canadian producer previewed the album \u2014 which follows his 2016 debut, 99.9%<\/em> \u2014 with the funky new song \u201c10%,\u201d featuring Kali Uchis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou keep on takin\u2019 from me, but where\u2019s my 10 percent?\u201d Uchis croons on the track over Kaytranada\u2019s smooth groove, built on a thumping kick drum, pulsing bass and woozy synthesizer chords. \u201cDon\u2019t act like you didn\u2019t know,\u201d she adds on the bridge. \u201cYou\u2019ve been watered down, baby\/I gotta keep it pure \u2014 where\u2019s my residuals?\u201d<\/p>\n

The guest-heavy Bubba<\/em> also features spots from GoldLink, Estelle, Mick Jenkins, SiR, Charlotte Day Wilson and Iman Omari, among others. Kaytranada will promote the record in January with a brief tour of Australia and New Zealand.<\/p>\n

The producer and prolific remixer, who has collaborated with Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg and Azealia Banks, spoke to Rolling Stone<\/i><\/a> in 2016 about the influence of neo-soul on his music.<\/p>\n

\u201c[It] caught my attention more than any other sub-genre,\u201d he said. \u201cI was really attracted by that sound. It made me do what I do musically: trying to find the same type of vibes, those nostalgic vibes \u2026 On albums I used to hear, there were a couple uptempo but very soulful R&B songs. There would be one song that would sound that way. My thing was to bring more of that to the table. That uptempo neo-soul, I wanted to bring that to life. Something dope, but something dance-y at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n
