John Legend<\/a> joined Kelly Clarkson<\/a> on The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em> to perform the duo\u2019s new version of \u201cBaby, It\u2019s Cold Outside.\u201d The track, which comes off Legend\u2019s new holiday album A Legendary Christmas<\/em><\/a>, has been updated for the modern era, with fresh lyrics like \u201cIt\u2019s your body and your choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the performance, Legend and Clarkson are joined by a band and a horn section as they duet on the soulful tune. The song gets a big band feel at the end as the instrumentals and vocals build to a climax. \u201cI simply should go (text me when you get home),\u201d the pair croons. \u201cOh, I\u2019m supposed to say no (mm, I guess that\u2019s respectable)\/ This welcome has been (I feel lucky that you dropped in)\/ So nice and warm (but you better go before it storms).\u201d<\/p>\n

Legend recently responded<\/a> to the controversy over the new lyrics during an appearance on The Tonight Show<\/em>. \u201cWe knew there was some controversy around the original lyrics, and looked at with 2019 eyes, we thought it would be fun to do a new version, make it fun, update the lyrics to be more current,\u201d Legend told host Jimmy Fallon. \u201cSo we talked about ride-sharing services, and we make a joke like, \u2018Why do you still live at home with your mom?\u2019\u201d He added that people \u201cwere just so upset that we would mess with that sacrosanct version of the original song\u201d because it\u2019s  \u201cpolitical correctness gone too far.\u201d<\/p>\n
