Lizzo<\/a> had some choice words for detractors of the outfit she wore to a Lakers game last weekend: \u201cIf you really, really don\u2019t like my ass, you can kiss it. \u2018Cause kissing it makes it go away, I promise.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer sparked a minor firestorm on the Internet Sunday night when she was spotted wearing a \u201cthong dress\u201d while attending a Los Angeles Lakers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves basketball game at L.A\u2019.s Staples Center.<\/p>\n

Lizzo\u2019s black T-shirt dress bared her butt for the audience to see, and at one point was even captured on the game\u2019s Jumbotron.<\/p>\n

The dress sparked debate online over whether or not it was appropriate to wear to a basketball game, which in turn <\/em>created a discussion about how often certain types of bodies are policed more than others.<\/p>\n

If you have to preface your criticism of Lizzo with, \u201cit\u2019s not because she\u2019s fat and Black,\u201d chances are you feel small type of way about fat Black women. And I\u2019mma just leave it there.<\/p>\n

Now, Lizzo has finally spoken out about the controversy, taking to Instagram Live<\/a> to express her thoughts.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t have to be like me, you need to be like you and never ever let somebody stop you or shame you from being yourself,\u201d she said. \u201cThis is who I\u2019ve always been. Now everyone\u2019s looking at it\u2026 and your criticism can just remain your criticism. Your criticism has no effect on me, negative criticism has no stake in my life, no control over my life, over my emotions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lizzo continued, \u201cI\u2019m the happiest I\u2019ve ever been I\u2019m surrounded by love and I just want to spread that love \u2014 and also spread these cheeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
