Camila Cabello<\/a> was Zane Lowe\u2019s latest guest on Apple\u2019s New Music Daily; she was in the studio to discuss her new songs, her boyfriend Shawn Mendes<\/a> and an embarrassing track she wrote for Rihanna<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201c[I] would write when I was like 16 to instrumentals of other songs,\u201d she said of her songwriting start. \u201cThose are for real shit songs\u2026I actually remember the chorus that I wrote [for the instrumental of] \u2018You Da One\u2019 by Rihanna. I think the reason they were so bad is because there was like nothing going on in my life romantically.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Cabello still had high hopes for her early compositions: \u201cThe worst part is the title [of one song I wrote]\u2026it was literally saved on my Garage Band as #\u20192Proud.\u2019 It\u2019s like, \u2018This is Rihanna\u2019s next single.\u2019 At 16. \u2018I\u2019m going to send this to Rihanna right now.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer also confirmed that her song \u201cLiar\u201d is about Mendes, as is \u201cFirst Man,\u201d which she called \u201cthe proudest song I\u2019ve ever written in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cabello dove further into lessons she\u2019s learned from their relationship: \u201cHe\u2019ll say to me sometimes, \u2018Oh, I had to talk to this person because it made my heart hurt.\u2019 He feels this need to kind of lift the weight of whatever is hurting him in order for him to be free. And I think that that\u2019s really beautiful. That\u2019s a trait that I\u2019ve adopted, is like whenever I feel like there\u2019s a weird energy between me and somebody or if my heart is hurting for some reason, I\u2019m like, \u2018OK, what do I need to do?’\u201d<\/p>\n

Cabello released her second album, Romance<\/i><\/a>, on December 6th. The album features previously released singles, \u201cSe\u00f1orita,\u201d<\/a> featuring Shawn Mendes, \u201cShameless,\u201d<\/a> \u201cLiar,\u201d<\/a> \u201cCry for Me,\u201d<\/a> \u201cEasy\u201d<\/a> and \u201cLiving Proof.\u201d<\/a> Romance <\/i>follows Cabello\u2019s 2018 solo debut, Camila<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n
