King Princess<\/a> has shared her new video for \u201cHomegirl,\u201d<\/a> featuring a compilation of clips and behind-the-scenes footage from her early live shows in New York and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The track comes from the artist\u2019s debut album Cheap Queen<\/em>, released this past October on Mark Ronson\u2019s label Zelig and Columbia Records. King Princess, aka Mikaela Straus, previously released the songs \u201c1950,\u201d \u201cHit the Back,\u201d \u201cProphet\u201d<\/a> and \u201cAin\u2019t Together.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

In an interview with Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>, Straus expressed her discontent with being labeled \u201cqueer pop.\u201d \u201c\u2018Queer pop\u2019 is literally saying sexuality is a genre,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t want to be grouped in with only gay people. That\u2019s ridiculous. I want to battle everyone. If you\u2019re going to compare me, compare me to straight people, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Straus recently made her Saturday Night Live <\/em>debut<\/a>, performing the songs \u201c1950\u201d<\/a> and \u201cHit the Back\u201d<\/a> on the Will Ferrell-hosted episode. She\u2019ll embark on the second leg of her North American tour beginning January 16th and wrapping in mid-February. It was also recently announced that the singer will be the opener for the European leg of Harry Styles\u2019 2020 Love on Tour<\/em><\/a> tour from April through June.<\/p>\n
