Dua Lipa<\/a> joined host Zane Lowe on Apple<\/a> Music\u2019s Beats 1 this week to talk her upcoming album, Future Nostalgia<\/em>, and her sudden rise to fame with her hit single from 2017, \u201cNew Rules.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe the first time I was like, \u2018Oh, something\u2019s happening,\u2019 was when I played Glastonbury,\u201d the British pop star said. \u201cMy slot was on the John Peel Stage at midday. I was like, \u2018No one\u2019s going to show up.\u2019\u2026I was petrified. Ten minutes before the show starts, it\u2019s still quite empty outside. I\u2019m like, \u2018All right, doesn\u2019t matter. Whatever happens, I\u2019m still playing Glastonbury. Whoever shows up, shows up.\u2019 I run out onto stage. The whole tent is full. There\u2019s people outside of the tent. It\u2019s pouring down with rain and they\u2019re still there sitting and watching. I was like, \u2018Oh my God. All these people are here to come and see me.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She described Future Nostalgia<\/em> as a more mature record than her debut album, and one where she exercised more control over the production of each song. \u201cI wanted it to be more instrumental and I felt more comfortable in the studio,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Lowe noted that Lipa has always been outspoken about women\u2019s rights, and she revealed that there will be a song on the new album about the experience of being a woman.<\/p>\n
