Neil Young<\/a> shared a New Year\u2019s Day note offering fans an update on some of the archival projects he\u2019s prepping for 2020. \u201cThese pieces are a labor of love,\u201d Young wrote on Neil Young Archives<\/a>. \u201cEvery morning I wake up with a full plate of things to do to keep me off the street and as a result, off the road. It\u2019s good to stop and regroup, gather energy and openness for what could be next.\u201d<\/p>\n

Young highlighted two projects, Way Down in the Rust Bucket <\/i>and Greendale Live<\/i>, although spoke more about the latter. That project will chronicle Young and Crazy Horse\u2019s performance of their 2003 rock opera, Greendale<\/i>, in Toronto, and will reportedly comprise a live album and concert film.<\/p>\n

Young said they\u2019re in the \u201cfinal editing stages\u201d of Greendale Live<\/i>, and added of the show itself, \u201cWe took it all around North America in 2003, set up that massive set over 80 times. Now we are preparing it to share through NYA and theaters. A Greendale Live<\/i> album will be part of the release.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Way Down in the Rust Bucket<\/i>, Young didn\u2019t offer any new updates about the project, which he announced back in September<\/a>. At the time, Young said his archival team had unearthed \u201ca one of a kind\u201d Crazy Horse Show at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz, California, produced and directed by LA Johnson and recorded by J. Hanlon.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith six cameras rolling, Crazy Horse lit into one of is greatest performances of all time\u2026 and no one knew it until it was very recently discovered,\u201d Young said. \u201cThere are a lot of things in the Archives that we know we have to see, but this one had slipped by\u2026 under our radar\u2026 until now. Forgotten between Ragged Glory<\/i> and Weld<\/i>, it had escaped us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although he didn\u2019t mention it in the New Year\u2019s Day note, Young is also set to finally drop his unreleased album, Homegrown<\/i><\/a>, this year. Young announced the album\u2019s arrival back in November, but in a quick update at the end of December<\/a>, he shared a photo of the vinyl test pressing and said Homegrown<\/i> would be his first release on Reprise in 2020. An exact release date, however, has yet to be announced.<\/p>\n
