So it\u2019s all the more captivating when she covers someone like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-police\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-police\" data-tag=\"the-police\">the Police<\/a>. Hatfield just dropped a Rachel Lichtman-directed video for her cover of \u201cCan\u2019t Stand Losing You,\u201d off of 2019\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alr-music.com\/collections\/out-now\/products\/juliana-hatfield-sings-the-police\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Juliana Hatfield Sings the Police<\/a><\/em> (via American Laundromat).<\/p>\n<p>Hatfield fronts a band of Julianas in the slick video for the track (she played all the instruments on the recording), her vocals adding new sheen to the 1978 classic. The three versions of Hatfield represent Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland \u2014 with a rare peek at the musician on the drums. In her capable hands, the song sounds like it could have come out today \u2014 rather than more than 40 years ago. Plus, the suit Sting Juliana sports is <em>sharp<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Hatfield has the rare talent of making well-known songs her own; she\u2019s put her own spin on everyone from Jeff Lynne to the Foo Fighters (on 2012\u2019s self-titled covers album). The former Blake Babies frontwoman has also previously released <em>Juliana Hatfield Sings Olivia Newton-John <\/em>and contributed to American Laundromat\u2019s compilation, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alr-music.com\/collections\/the-juliana-hatfield-three\/products\/various-artists-i-saved-latin-a-tribute-to-wes-anderson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">I Saved Latin! A Tribute to Wes Anderson<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The musician released her most recent record of original music, <em>Weird,<\/em> in 2019, and before that, 2017\u2019s <em>Pussycat<\/em> \u2014 perhaps the most acerbic anti-Trump album of all time. \u201cIt gave me something to focus on every day rather than just spewing anxiety and anger,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/read.tidal.com\/article\/juliana-hatfield-5-records-that-changed-my-life\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">she previously said<\/a> of the album. \u201cA few months ago, it was just so awful, and I know it was the same for a lot of people. The anxiety levels were over the top really unhealthy.
