The track is the first song to be released off the band\u2019s upcoming fourth album, a follow-up to their 2016 effort <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/review-grouplove-still-ambitious-mostly-innocuous-on-big-mess-112945\/\"><em>Big Mess<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the upbeat, lo-fi video, the band members, dressed in orange jumpsuits, perform the new track in an artsy warehouse and take to the streets of Los Angeles. Blauvelt was the cinematographer on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/jonah-hill\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jonah-hill\" data-tag=\"jonah-hill\">Jonah Hill<\/a>\u2019s directorial debut, <em>Mid90s,<\/em> and fans can catch a glimpse of Hill setting up gear for the band in the clip.<\/p>\n<p>Recorded with producer Dave Sitek and written by band members Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi with Sitek, \u201cDeleter\u201d is a return to form for the L.A. band. The lyrics reflect on current anxieties: \u201cAll this time I thought you were a leader\/It turns out you\u2019re only a deleter\/Tell your friends that you\u2019re OK\/You\u2019re never gonna see them anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the release of <em>Big Mess<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/grouplove-talk-surviving-chaos-for-anthemic-big-mess-109894\/\">Hooper told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> that she was beginning to embrace her role as pop band frontwoman. \u201cI\u2019m in a genre and people look up to me and I\u2019m like \u2026 \u2018How the fuck did this happen?&#8217;\u201d she said. \u201cThis is amazing. I don\u2019t know if people out there know that I\u2019m weird because we get generalized as this happy, Southern California pop band. But we really aren\u2019t that way. So it\u2019s exciting to get those kinds of kids who wouldn\u2019t necessarily get to know a woman like me. And it\u2019s like, \u2018Guess what!\u2019 Now that you\u2019re at the show, get to know me. I\u2019m an aggressive, powerful woman.
