In a statement, Thundercat described the song as a meditation on what it means to be a young black American, saying: \u201cWhat it feels like to be in this position right now\u2026 the weird ins and outs, we\u2019re talking about those feelings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Notably, there will be a different version of \u201cBlack Qualls\u201d on&nbsp;<em>It Is What It Is <\/em>that will feature additional contributions from Childish Gambino.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><i>It Is What It Is <\/i>follows Thundercat\u2019s 2017 album, <i>Drunk<\/i>; he executive produced the record with Flying Lotus. Along with Arrington and Lacy, <i>It Is What It Is<\/i> features contributions from Ty Dolla $ign, Kamasi Washington, Lil B, BadBadNotGood, Louis Cole, Zack Fox and Flying Lotus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Thundercat already has a slew tour dates scheduled for this year.
