Randy Newman<\/a> has canceled a string of tour dates in Australia and New Zealand as he continues to recover from hip surgery.<\/p>\n

The musician was set to hit the road on February 2nd in Melbourne, but in a note on social media he said that his recovery period was taking longer than expected. \u201cI couldn\u2019t be more sorry, I really couldn\u2019t,\u201d Newman said. \u201cI wanted very much to perform in Australia and New Zealand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Newman also alluded to the devastating bushfires in Australia, saying, \u201cI am especially sorry not to be there in person to express my support for, and love of, Australia during this time of crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the moment, it\u2019s unclear if Newman plans to reschedule his tour dates in Australia and New Zealand. He\u2019s set to embark on a European tour<\/a> in May.<\/p>\n

Newman released his most recent solo album, Dark Matter<\/i><\/a>, in 2017, although he\u2019s been busy since then with a variety of projects. Most notably, he picked up two Oscar nominations<\/a> this year, Best Original Song<\/a> for Toy Story 4<\/i>\u2018s \u201cI Can\u2019t Let You Throw Yourself Away,\u201d and Best Original Score for Marriage Story<\/i>. Last year, Newman also made a surprise cameo<\/a> on Chance the Rapper\u2019s \u201c5 Year Plan\u201d off The Big Day<\/i>.<\/p>\n
