Stone Temple Pilots<\/a>\u2019 new singer Jeff Gutt felt a lot of stress before his first show with the legendary band in 2017. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t get any more high-pressure than that,\u201d Gutt told Rolling Stone\u2019s Andy Greene<\/a> recently. \u201cSo much was riding on everything at that time.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Gutt won over fans and the band has toured steadily ever since \u2014 plus they\u2019re about to release their first acoustic album, Perdida<\/em>. The album was recorded on vintage instruments in Nashville. Initially, it was meant to be only an EP, but the new approach inspired the group to write more, especially about heartbreak and grief.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was looking back at difficult moments in my life,\u201d said Gutt, who wrote most of the lyrics. \u201cI was trying to be vulnerable, and that\u2019s a scary thing to do, but it\u2019s also kind of comfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n
