And what was it called?<\/p>\n<p><em>Rolling Stone<\/em> reached out to River\u2019s ex-Aleka\u2019s Attic bandmate, Josh Greenbaum, who recalls: \u201cIt was a very long time ago \u2014 one of the songs Riv had written prior even to our connecting. And we never actually performed the song together. With me, he wanted to focus on his newer material which was stylistically different \u2014 more musically advanced and experimental.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, Greenbaum thinks he remembers the name of the tune, \u201cHalo.\u201d Tad Friend\u2019s 2001 book, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=fi9o1LXtkKsC&amp;pg=PT29&amp;lpg=PT29&amp;dq=%22Run+to+the+rescue+with+love+and+peace+will+follow.%22&amp;source=bl&amp;ots=qAEoLAl2Cb&amp;sig=ACfU3U3w6bMWxtMJrZDfjJDo8h68l4pYOw&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjM24WrmsznAhUMVN8KHTBABbY4HhDoATAAegQIChAB#v=onepage&amp;q=%22Run%20to%20the%20rescue%20with%20love%20and%20peace%20will%20follow.%22&amp;f=false\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Lost in Mongolia: Travels in Hollywood and Other Foreign Lands<\/a><\/em>, lends credence to this memory, as it recounts that, during the filming of 1991\u2019s <em>My Private Idaho<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/river-phoenix\/\" id=\"auto-tag_river-phoenix\" data-tag=\"river-phoenix\">River Phoenix<\/a> jammed with Flea and other actors from the film, \u201cplay[ing] the sweet, off-kilter lyrics Phoenix had written for himself and his band, Aleka\u2019s Attic \u2014 \u2018Run to the rescue with love\/and peace will follow\u2019 or \u2018Hey, lo, where did your halo go?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>My Own Private Idaho,<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.out.com\/movies\/2015\/10\/25\/enduring-power-my-own-private-idaho\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">directed by Gus Van Sant<\/a>, is based loosely on Shakespeare\u2019s <em>Henry IV<\/em>, and River and Keanu Reeves starred, playing gay hustlers who become friends and then take a transformative road trip.<\/p>\n<p>Greenbaum isn\u2019t sure where \u201cHalo\u201d is now. \u201cI have a bunch of cassette tapes in storage that I have not yet had the opportunity to go through, and there is only a slim outside chance that a song that old is actually on one of those tapes,\u201d he says. \u201cIt would have been something he gave me when we were just starting out, and even if it exists, I don\u2019t know if it would play. After all, we\u2019re talking three decades of storage, moving several times in between, living in hot humid conditions, etc.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>River, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/last-night-at-the-viper-room-the-life-and-death-of-river-phoenix-91841\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">who died in 1993<\/a> of an overdose outside Hollywood nightclub the Viper Room, was a teen idol, musician and activist, much like his younger brother, Joaquin.
