{"id":975080,"date":"2020-02-14T07:00:09","date_gmt":"2020-02-14T14:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=952214"},"modified":"2020-02-14T07:00:09","modified_gmt":"2020-02-14T14:00:09","slug":"the-zombies-announce-new-album-map-spring-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kfmu\/music-news\/the-zombies-announce-new-album-map-spring-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"The Zombies Announce New Album, Map Spring Tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/the-zombies-tour.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-zombies\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-zombies\" data-tag=\"the-zombies\">The Zombies<\/a> have announced a 2020 spring tour \u2014 and confirmed that they\u2019re working on a new album, their first since 2015\u2019s <em>Still Got That Hunger.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s now 51 years since \u2018Time of the Season\u2019 reached Number one on the U.S. single charts,\u201d keyboardist Rod Argent tells <em>Rolling Stone.<\/em> The clip above shows the band performing the Sixties anthem in Los Angeles last year. \u201cUnbelievably, it\u2019s a song that feels just as much a joy to play now as it did all those years ago!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Argent recalls recording \u201cTime of the Season\u201d at Abbey Road\u2019s Studio Three in 1967, linking that experience to the band\u2019s new music. \u201cIn a lovely coincidence, just two days ago we were excited to finish the first three newly written tracks for our upcoming album in my just completed studio,\u201d he says. \u201cWhich sounds great and happens to be designed by the same guy responsible for the acoustic design of all the Abbey Road studios \u2014 including Studio Three!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/zombies\/\" id=\"auto-tag_zombies\" data-tag=\"zombies\">Zombies<\/a> will hit the Caribbean with two cruises in the spring \u2014 the Flower Power Cruise in March alongside the Hollies and Arlo Guthrie and On the Blues Cruise in April with Art Garfunkel, Poco and others. They\u2019ll embark on a tour on April 9th in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, stopping in Birmingham, Alabama, and Biloxi, Mississippi, before heading to Canada.<\/p>\n<p>The band\u2019s current lineup consists of Argent, singer Colin Blunstone, drummer Steve Rodford, guitarist Tom Toomey and bassist S\u00f8ren Koch \u2014 who replaced Jim Rodford after his death in 2018. It\u2019s unclear if original bassist Chris White will join the tour to perform his prog-rock track <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OVgpdnV0GW8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cButcher\u2019s Tale (Western Front 1914)\u201d<\/a> from<em> Odessey and Oracle.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After 29 years and four ballots, the Zombies were finally inducted into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/stevie-nicks-the-cure-radiohead-rock-hall-of-fame-815629\/\">Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019<\/a>, along with the Cure, Radiohead, Stevie Nicks, Janet Jackson, Def Leppard and Roxy Music. \u201cI\u2019ve loved the Zombies for as long as I can remember,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/susanna-hoffs-the-zombies-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-2019-813641\/\">Bangles singer Susanna Hoffs said in her induction speech.<\/a> \u201cI first heard them when I was a very little girl in the Sixties \u2014 in the backseat of my Mom\u2019s station wagon \u2014 and although their music played through a tinny car radio, its elegance, soulfulness, tonal textures and foggy London intrigue found me on the sunny palm-lined streets of Los Angeles.
