Punk pioneers the Buzzcocks<\/a> unveiled two new songs, \u201cGotta Get Better\u201d and \u201cDestination Zero,\u201d marking their first tracks since the death of frontman Pete Shelley<\/a> in 2018.<\/p>\n

Since Shelley\u2019s death, guitarist Steve Diggle has taken over lead vocal duties, and \u201cGotta Get Better\u201d is actually a reworking of a solo track Diggle released<\/a> back in 2014. In the Buzzcocks<\/a>\u2019 hands, \u201cGotta Get Better\u201d is a nice bit of power-pop that finds Diggle driving home the song\u2019s titular affirmation over a blast of guitars and breakneck drums. The song even boasts an expertly executed false ending that leads perfectly into Diggle\u2019s closing guitar solo.<\/p>\n

\u201cDestination Zero,\u201d meanwhile, is equally energetic but a little more ragged as Diggle bellows over a restless crunch of guitars, \u201cAll the things they told you are not what they seem\/Living in space city, but they don\u2019t know what it means\/Destination, destination zero.\u201d<\/p>\n
