Pledge to Vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/GettyImages-1199133195.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Less than three weeks after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/bon-iver\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bon-iver\" data-tag=\"bon-iver\">Bon Iver<\/a>\u2019s Justin Vernon covered Bob Dylan and Leon Russell at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/bon-iver-vampire-weekend-bernie-sanders-iowa-caucus-941122\/\">Bernie Sanders rally in Iowa<\/a>, the singer announced a trio of Wisconsin shows Monday that requires a \u201cpledge to vote in order to gain access to <a href=\"https:\/\/boniver.org\/tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">presale tickets<\/a> for all three shows.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fall concerts, set to take place at La Crosse\u2019s La Crosse Center on October 5th, Wausau\u2019s Grand Theater on the 7th and Appelton\u2019s Fox Cities PAC on the 8th, will take place one month before the presidential election. Vernon has partnered with the <a href=\"http:\/\/46for46.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">46 for 46 campaign<\/a>, an organization that aims to \u201chelp elect the 2020 Democratic presidential nominee by working to increase civic engagement through music and pop culture,\u201d the group says.<\/p>\n<p>As Vernon noted in his announcement about the shows, President Trump won Wisconsin in the 2016 election, the first Republican to win the state\u2019s 10 electoral votes since Ronald Reagan in 1984.<\/p>\n<p>Bon Iver is not the first to partner with 46 for 46, who are staging \u201crally concerts\u201d in each musician\u2019s home state. Nathaniel Rateliff (Colorado), Lissie (Iowa), Patty Griffin (Maine), Houndmouth (Indiana), Dashboard Confessional (Florida), Sylvan Esso (North Carolina), Tacocat (Washington) and Cha Wa (Louisiana) have all signed on to participate throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- .l-article-content__pull--left --> <\/p>\n<p>Managers Christopher Moon and Kyle Frenette \u2014 the latter acting as Bon Iver\u2019s manager until 2018 before briefly running for Wisconsin\u2019s 7th district in Congress \u2014 conceived the 46 for 46 project in 2019 in \u201cthe states that matter most during the lead-up to the 2020 election,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/business\/8523615\/46-for-46-concert-campaign-next-president-trump-kyle-frenette-bon-iver\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">they told <em>Billboard <\/em><\/a>last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI voted for [Obama], he was elected, he seemed like a very good leader, and I thought everything would be taken care of,\u201d Frenette said. \u201cIt almost seems like that was this country\u2019s M.O. in a way.
