{"id":975342,"date":"2020-02-27T13:16:46","date_gmt":"2020-02-27T20:16:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=959233"},"modified":"2020-02-27T13:16:46","modified_gmt":"2020-02-27T20:16:46","slug":"danzig-finally-sets-release-date-for-elvis-presley-covers-album","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kfmu\/music-news\/danzig-finally-sets-release-date-for-elvis-presley-covers-album\/","title":{"rendered":"Danzig Finally Sets Release Date for Elvis Presley Covers Album"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/danzig-elvis-covers-album.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Over five years after Glenn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/danzig\/\" id=\"auto-tag_danzig\" data-tag=\"danzig\">Danzig<\/a> first revealed plans to record an album of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/elvis-presley\/\" id=\"auto-tag_elvis-presley\" data-tag=\"elvis-presley\">Elvis Presley<\/a> songs, the metal icon will release the long-awaited covers LP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><em>Danzig Sings Elvis<\/em> is out April 17th via Cleopatra Records, the singer\u2019s Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Danzig\/photos\/a.395126088070\/10157444336433071\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">announced<\/a> Thursday; the album arrives a few seasons after the initially promised fall 2019 release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Sings-Elvis-Danzig\/dp\/B084QKXY9C\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon.com listing<\/a> for <em>Danzig Sings Elvis<\/em>, available to preorder on CD and vinyl, shows that the Misfits singer puts his signature goth-metal spin on 14 Presley standards, including a \u201c\u2018sinister take on \u2018Fever\u2019 and a truly haunting version of \u2018Always on My Mind.&#8217;\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Additionally, Danzig has outlined plans to showcase his Presley covers at \u201csmall intimate seated performances as Danzig wants to try to capture an old Vegas night club atmosphere.\u201d Details for those late-April concerts in Los Angeles and San Francisco will be announced next week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/danzig-talks-elvis-influence-writing-for-johnny-cash-and-roy-orbison-65888\/\">a 2015 interview with <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>, Danzig said that Presley was among his chief musical influences. \u201cElvis is actually kind of how I got into music,\u201d Danzig said at the time. \u201cWhen I was a kid, I was cutting school pretending I was sick and I would lie at home watching old movies, and&nbsp;<i>Jailhouse Rock<\/i>&nbsp;came on with Elvis. I was like, \u2018I want to do this. This is great.\u2019 And that\u2019s how I veered to music.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Two years later in another interview, the singer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/glenn-danzig-on-dark-new-lp-misfits-plans-why-he-hates-recent-presidents-120225\/\">told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> that the album would \u201cprobably\u201d arrive in 2017, noting that he recently recorded a take on the Presley\u2019s 1960 single \u201cThe Girl of My Best Friend\u201d; that track made the album\u2019s final cut.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\"><em>Danzig Sings Elvis<\/em> Track List<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">1.
