Grier said that while he is unable to visit Schlesinger, the doctor reports he\u2019s received have not once used the term \u201ccoma.\u201d He says Schelsinger, per doctor reports, is \u201cheavily sedated,\u201d as is necessary to be on a ventilator and added, \u201cThe doctors are doing everything they can think of and they\u2019re cautiously optimistic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">News of Schlesinger\u2019s condition began to spread late Monday night on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/theivyfanpage\/photos\/rpp.348390074075\/10158031865369076\/?type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Facebook fan page<\/a> for his other band, Ivy. That post, which was later shared on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IvyFanPage\/status\/1244844330088632320\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Twitter<\/a>, cited information posted by an acquaintance of Schlesinger\u2019s, who stated the musician had been on a ventilator for two weeks and was supposedly in a medically induced coma.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Schlesinger co-founded Fountains of Wayne with Chris Collingwood, with the group best known for their Grammy-nominated hit \u201cStacy\u2019s Mom\u201d off 2003\u2019s <i>Welcome to Interstate Managers<\/i>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pmc-contextual-player\">\n<h3> Popular on Rolling Stone <\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">Along with playing in two other bands, Ivy and Tinted Windows, Schlesinger has had a wildly prolific music career that\u2019s found him writing for television, film and the theater.
