It&#8217;s a love letter to independent bookstores (and now, somewhat ironically, for the big bad chains that put them out of business). It&#8217;s also a love letter to love letters.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"49.023255813953\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"11.06976744186\">\n<p>Come on, this is the movie that inspired <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/mindy_kaling\">Mindy Kaling<\/a><\/strong> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Bc-r8ARFqDC\/?utm_source=ig_embed\" target=\"_blank\">throw a themed dinner party at Christmas<\/a>, because as any true You&#8217;ve Got Mail fan knows, it totally counts as a Christmas movies. (Never. Enough. Twinkle. Lights.)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>You&#8217;ve Got Mail\u00a0<\/em>is the most soul-mate-y of soul-mate movies,&#8221; Kaling told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/2010\/09\/watch_youve_got_mail_with_mind.html\" target=\"_blank\">Vulture<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kaling loves the movie so much she even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/fr\/news\/638505\/mindy-kaling-on-whether-or-not-these-6-classic-rom-com-couples-are-still-together\" target=\"_blank\">paid homage to it on <em>The Mindy Project<\/em> in a pretty big way<\/a>:\u00a0&#8220;The name of the bar that our characters go to is called Kathleen Kelly&#8217;s. She was so stylish in that really understated hot Manhattan librarian way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-3\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"36.237113402062\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"13.711340206186\">\n<p>Aside from Ryan&#8217;s wardrobe as Kathleen Kelly, the true star of the movie is Nora Ephron, who directed the movie and co-wrote it with her sister, <strong>Delia Ephron<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ephron, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/328749\/meg-ryan-tom-hanks-meryl-streep-attend-nora-ephron-memorial-service\" target=\"_blank\">passed awa<\/a>y in 2012, was a journalist-turned-screenwriter-turned-director credited for saving the romantic comedy genre with her signature brand of wit and wistfulness. She loved love but was also practical, she could make caviar funny and flour floating into the air early in the morning on New York romantic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-4\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"61.224832214765\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"12.941834451902\">\n<p>&#8220;Knowing and loving Nora meant her world\u2014 or her neighborhood\u2014became yours.
