In the games, characters can perform dances, or emotes\u2014some of which can be purchased by players.<\/p>\n<p>According to CNN, Ribeiro, who introduced &#8220;The Carlton&#8221; on <em>The Fresh Prince of Bel Air<\/em>, claimed his signature step can be seen in Fortnite under the emote &#8220;Fresh,&#8221; as well as in NBA 2K\u00a0under the name &#8220;So Fresh.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The news outlet claimed\u00a0Ribeiro is asking the court to prevent the companies from using, selling or displaying the dance. He is also reportedly seeking damages and\u00a0requesting that both companies stop profiting from the move. In addition, CNN reported that Ribeiro has reportedly accused Epic Games of faking endorsements.\u00a0Furthermore, it claimed he is in the process of copyrighting the dance.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"60.062123039807\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"10.920386007238\">\n<p>&#8220;It is widely recognized that Mr. Ribeiro&#8217;s likeness and intellectual property have been misappropriated by Epic Games in the most popular video game currently in the world,\u00a0Fortnite,&#8221; Ribeiro&#8217;s lawyer <strong>David L. Hecht<\/strong> told <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tv\/alfonso-ribeiro-sues-video-game-fortnite-carlton-dance\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>People<\/em><\/a> in a statement. &#8220;Epic has earned record profits off of downloadable content in the game, including emotes like \u2018Fresh.&#8217; Yet Epic has failed to compensate or even ask permission from Mr. Ribeiro for the use of his likeness and iconic intellectual property. &#8220;Therefore, Mr. Ribeiro is seeking his fair and reasonable share of profits Epic has earned by use of his iconic intellectual property in\u00a0Fortnite\u00a0and as a result is requesting through the courts that Epic cease all use of Mr. Ribeiro&#8217;s signature dance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>E! News has reached out to Epic Games and Take-Two Interactive Software for comment.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-3\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"59\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"8\">\n<p>Ribeiro isn&#8217;t the first public figure to take legal action against\u00a0the developers. <strong>Russell Horning<\/strong>, also known as Backpack Kid, also has lawsuits against Epic Games and Take-Two Interactive Software for allegedly using\u00a0his dance moves without permission in the game. <strong>Rapper 2 Milly<\/strong> is also suing Epic Games for the company&#8217;s alleged misappropriation, use and sale of the &#8220;Milly Rock&#8221; in <em>Fortnite<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/997596\/alfonso-ribeiro-sues-fortnite-developer-for-allegedly-using-the-carlton-dance?cmpid=rss-000000-rssfeed-365-topstories&#038;utm_source=eonline&#038;utm_medium=rssfeeds&#038;utm_campaign=rss_topstories\" target=\"_blank\">via:: E!
