You can’t stop the beat!<\/p>\n

Since James Corden<\/a><\/strong> had the stars of Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns<\/em> on The Late Late Show<\/em> Tuesday, he decided to make the most of Emily Blunt<\/a><\/strong> and Lin-Manuel Miranda<\/a><\/strong>‘s talents by condensing 22 movie musicals into one long greatest hits medley. “Anyone who watches this show knows how much I love musicals,” he told the audience. “So tonight, we’ll be doing a ‘Roll Call’ celebrating some of the greatest movie musicals of all time as fast as we can\u2014in one take.”<\/p>\n

Before the performance began, Corden asked, “Are we ready for this?”<\/p>\n

While Miranda said he was “born ready,” Blunt told the host, “Not at all!”<\/p>\n

From there, the trio launched into a Cabaret<\/em> number, followed by songs from Chicago<\/em>, La La Land<\/em>, Beauty and the Beast<\/em>, Guys and Dolls<\/em>, Evita<\/em>, Singin’ in the Rain<\/em>, Mary Poppins Returns<\/em>, The Muppet Movie<\/em>, The Wizard of Oz<\/em>, Hairspray<\/em>, Dreamgirls<\/em>, Annie<\/em>, Fiddler on the Roof<\/em>, Into the Woods<\/em>, Little Shop of Horrors<\/em>, Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/em>, Moulin Rouge<\/em>, Once<\/em>, Fame<\/em>, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes<\/em> and Mamma Mia<\/em>. (Keep your eyes peeled for an iconic cameo about five minutes into the video.)<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Things took an awkward turn when they got to Into the Woods<\/em>, where Blunt and Corden reprised their roles from Rob Marshall’<\/strong>s 2014 film and Miranda inserted himself into the scene.<\/p>\n

“Lin-Manuel, what are you doing?” Corden asked. “We talked about this.”<\/p>\n

“But I love Into the Woods<\/em>,” the actor explained. “I thought you were kidding.”<\/p>\n

“It’s literally us<\/em> in the movie. The song is called ‘It Takes Two.’ One, two,” the late-night host reminded him, pointing to himself and Blunt. “So sorry. You’re going to have to sit this one out.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Undeterred, Miranda quoted Hamilton<\/em> and said, “I am not throwing away my shot!”<\/p>\n

“He went there,” Corden said, while Blunt called the move “embarrassing.”<\/p>\n

Eventually, they relented and let him play…the woods.<\/p>\n
