Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino<\/a><\/strong> is marking a major personal milestone following years of turmoil and also giving back to the community this holiday season as he prepares for his upcoming prison sentence for tax evasion.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old\u00a0Jersey Shore<\/em> star wrote on his Instagram<\/a> page on Saturday, “Big daddy Sitch celebrating 3 years of sobriety & teaming up with @discoveryinstitute_nj to bring a holiday meal to Phoenix Recovery House in Eatontown NJ for Christmas.”<\/p>\n

Mike has been open about his past addiction to\u00a0prescription drugs<\/a>\u00a0and has been known for his past partying ways on Jersey Shore<\/em> several years ago. He and most of the cast members returned for Jersey Shore: Family Vacation<\/em> this year and this time, he filmed the show sober.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“I was actually a bit insecure,” he said in a video posted on the Instagram<\/a> page of the Discovery Institute for Addictive Disorders, a nonprofit treatment center where he spent six months in rehab. “I was known to be one of the bigger partiers on Jersey Shore. I told myself, I’m going to have to continue to challenge myself in my recovery.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

In recent months, he has spoken to recovery groups in\u00a0New Jersey\u00a0on behalf of the center.\u00a0The Discovery Institute has\u00a0also partnered with Mike on a scholarship program<\/a> to help\u00a0fund treatment for people struggling with drug and\/or alcohol addiction.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“[Being sober] really taught me how to just be at peace. It taught me to be more accepting,” he told E! News<\/a>\u00a0in 2017.\u00a0“I live my life today at peace. I try not to have any arguments. I mean, everything in my life has changed. I don’t speed. I don’t get into fights.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
