One of Hollywood’s biggest parties is almost here. And at this party, awards are handed out. We’re talking the Golden Globes.<\/p>\n

The 2019 ceremony airs Sunday, Jan. 6 with Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/em> star Andy Samberg<\/a><\/strong> and Killing Eve<\/em>‘s Sandra Oh<\/a><\/strong> serving as hosts after the two stole the show at the 2018 Emmys while presenting an award. They’ll oversee a show where anything can\u2014and does\u2014happen. Historically, the Golden Globes are nutty in who they nominate and ultimately hand out awards to. Nutty in a good way. They’re unpredictable, which makes our job predicting who will be the night’s big winners harder\u2026and fun.<\/p>\n

Below, we’ve broken down the TV categories. We’re telling you who we think should win and who we think will take home the Golden Globe at the end of the night.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

FX<\/p>\n

Best Television Series\u2014Drama<\/h3>\n

This category could go in any number of directions. Last year’s winner The Handmaid’s Tale<\/em> isn’t in the running. International hit Bodyguard<\/em> made a splashy debut, The Americans<\/em> ended its run with much fanfare and Homecoming<\/em>, Pose<\/em> and Killing Eve<\/em> all debuted with critical acclaim.<\/p>\n

Who should win: Pose<\/em><\/strong>
The FX drama had not one bad single episode. The Golden Globes love honoring diversity and you don’t get much more diverse than this 1980s-set series about LGBTQ characters.<\/p>\n

Who will win: Killing Eve<\/em><\/strong>
And we won’t be mad about this either. The BBC America drama was really, really, really good.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Best Actress\u2014Drama<\/h3>\n

Elisabeth Moss<\/strong> is back to defend the award she won last year for The Handmaid’s Tale<\/em> against Caitriona Balfe<\/strong> for Outlander<\/em>, Sandra Oh<\/strong> for Killing Eve<\/em>, Homecoming<\/em>‘s Julia Roberts<\/strong> and The Americans<\/strong> star Keri Russell<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Who should win: Sandra Oh, Killing Eve<\/em><\/strong>
The Golden Globes host was absolutely stellar in Killing Eve<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Who will win: Julia Roberts, Homecoming<\/em><\/strong>
Roberts is great in Homecoming<\/em>, not that anybody doubted she would be.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\"Matthew<\/div>\n

Best Actor\u2014Drama<\/h3>\n

Ozark<\/em>‘s Jason Bateman<\/strong> is the only returning nominee from last year, 2018 winner This Is Us<\/em>‘ Sterling K. Brown<\/strong> was snubbed, which means the race is wide open. Homecoming<\/em>‘s Stephan James<\/strong> is up for the award, as is Bodyguard<\/em> star Richard Madden<\/strong>, Pose<\/em>‘s Billy Porter<\/strong> and The Americans<\/em> star Matthew Rhys<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Who should win: Billy Porter, Pose<\/em><\/strong>
As Pray Tell on the FX series, Porter is doing heartbreaking\u2014and hilarious\u2014work.<\/p>\n

Who will win: Matthew Rhys, The Americans<\/em><\/strong>
He took home the Emmy for the final season and will likely get another award for the shelf.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

NBC<\/p>\n

Best Television Series\u2014Musical or Comedy<\/h3>\n

The single nominee from broadcast here is The Good Place<\/em>, and that should tell you something about its quality. It remains one of the smartest and funniest shows on TV. Last year’s winner The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel<\/em> is (rightfully) in the running again, and the Golden Globes loves star power, Kidding<\/em>, The Kominsky Method<\/em> and Barry<\/em> round out the category<\/p>\n

Who should win: The Good Place<\/em><\/strong>
NBC’s afterlife comedy is just so forkin’ delightful!<\/p>\n

Who will win: The Kominsky Method<\/em><\/strong>
Never underestimate the power of the Golden Globes’ love of veteran actors, in this case Michael Douglas<\/strong> and Alan Arkin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

NBC<\/p>\n

Best Actress\u2014Musical or Comedy<\/h3>\n

Last year’s winner Rachel Brosnahan<\/strong> is back for her work in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel<\/em>, defending her title against The Good Place<\/em>‘s Kristen Bell<\/strong>, Candice Bergen<\/strong> for her return to Murphy Brown<\/em>, Will & Grace<\/em> star Debra Messing<\/strong> and GLOW<\/em>‘s Alison Brie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Who should and who will win: Kristen Bell, The Good Place<\/em><\/strong>
For close to the last 10 years, this category has always changed it up and honored deserving performers like Brosnahan, Tracee Ellis Ross<\/strong>, Rachel Bloom<\/strong> and Gina Rodriguez<\/strong>. Bell is a first-time nominee and does excellent work in The Good Place<\/em>. This should (and hopefully will) be her award.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mike Yarish\/Netflix<\/p>\n

Best Actor\u2013Musical or Comedy<\/h3>\n

Bill Hader<\/strong> won an Emmy for his work in Barry<\/em> and is in this category with Kidding<\/em>‘s Jim Carrey<\/strong>, Donald Glover<\/strong> for Atlanta<\/em>, Michael Douglas<\/strong> for The Kominsky Method<\/em> and Sacha Baron Cohen<\/strong> for Who Is America<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Who should win: Jim Carrey, Kidding<\/em><\/strong>
He’s fantastic in the showtime series.<\/p>\n

Who will win: Michael Douglas, The Kominsky Method<\/em><\/strong>
Again, HFPA loves veteran actors doing good work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television<\/h3>\n

This category is hard to predict. Nominees are all over the place, including The Alienist<\/em>, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story<\/em>, Escape at Dannemora<\/em>, Sharp Objects<\/em> and A Very English Scandal<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Who should and who will win: The Assassination of Gianni Versace<\/em><\/strong>
FX’s miniseries has everything The Hollywood Foreign Press Association loves: big stars, a glittering locale and actors playing against type.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

HBO<\/p>\n

Best Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television<\/h3>\n

This category is a who’s who of famous faces. There’s Patricia Arquette<\/strong> for Escape at Dannemora<\/em>, Connie Britton<\/strong> for Dirty John<\/em>, Laura Dern<\/strong> for The Tale<\/em>, Regina King<\/strong> for Seven Seconds<\/em> and Amy Adams<\/strong> for Sharp Objects<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Who should win: Patricia Arquette, Escape at Dannemora<\/em><\/strong>
Have you seen what she did week to week?!<\/p>\n

Who will win: Amy Adams, Sharp Objects<\/em><\/strong>
It’s this year’s Big Little Lies<\/em>\u2026but it didn’t create nearly as much buzz.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Best Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television<\/h3>\n

It’s almost new vs. old guard here with A Very English Scandal<\/em>‘s Hugh Grant<\/strong>, Patrick Melrose<\/em> star Benedict Cumberbatch<\/strong>, Antonio Banderas<\/strong> for Genius: Picasso<\/em>, The Alienist<\/em> star Daniel Bruhl<\/strong> and Darren Criss<\/strong> for The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Who should win: Darren Criss, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story<\/em><\/strong>
He got the Emmy and for a good reason.<\/p>\n

Who will win: Hugh Grant, A Very English Scandal<\/em><\/strong>
Golden Globes love a good streaming series, especially one with an international flair.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television<\/h3>\n

This is a tough category because it’s performers from comedies, dramas, TV movies, miniseries\u2026it’s everyone. You can’t compare Alex Borstein<\/strong>‘s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel<\/em> performance with that of Yvonne Strahovski<\/strong> in The Handmaid’s Tale<\/em>. But somehow, the Golden Globes will. Other nominees include Patricia Clarkson<\/strong> for Sharp Objects<\/em>, Westworld<\/em> star Thandie Newton<\/strong> and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story<\/em>‘s Pen\u00e9lope Cruz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Who should win: Yvonne Strahovski, The Handmaid’s Tale<\/em><\/strong>
This was Serena Joy’s year on Hulu’s dystopian drama. Strahovski did amazing work infusing the character with humanity.<\/p>\n

Who will win: Patricia Clarkson, Sharp Objects<\/em><\/strong>
Clarkson owned that screen in HBO’s miniseries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television<\/h3>\n

Again, a tough category. Voters have to compare A Very English Scandal<\/em>‘s Ben Whishaw<\/strong>, Barry<\/em> star Henry Winkler<\/strong>, The Kominsky Method<\/em>‘s Alan Arkin<\/strong>, Kieran Culkin<\/strong> for Succession<\/em> and Edgar Ramirez<\/strong> for The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Who should win: Henry Winkler, Barry<\/em><\/strong>
The Fonz really stepped it up.<\/p>\n

Who will win: Ben Whishaw, A Very English Scandal<\/em><\/strong>
The Whishawissance is upon us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
