Another Golden Globe\u00a0recipient\u00a0has been crowned!<\/p>\n

This time it’s Richard Madden<\/strong>\u00a0for his performance in BBC and Netflix’s\u00a0Bodyguard<\/em>,\u00a0making him the winner of Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama Television Series category. The relative Hollywood newcomer faced stiff competition up against\u00a0Jason Bateman<\/a><\/strong> (Ozark<\/em>),\u00a0Stephan James<\/strong> (Homecoming<\/em>),\u00a0Billy Porter<\/strong>\u00a0(Pose<\/em>) and\u00a0Matthew Rhys<\/strong> (The Americans<\/em>).<\/p>\n

This marks Richard’s first nomination and win at the Golden Globes.<\/p>\n

During his acceptance speech, 32-year-old Madden thanked his many famous peers inside The Beverly Hilton and those behind the scenes who made the first season of the wildly popular series possible.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Thank you very much to HFPA. I didn’t see this coming at all,” he shared in disbelief. “I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the amazing\u00a0crew and cast that made\u00a0Bodyguard<\/em>\u00a0that worked very hard over the course of five months to make this show.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Madden went on to thank his personal team, and even gave a special shout out to his nearest and dearest.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“And most importantly,” Richard continued, “my friends and my family and mom and dad who flew all the way from Scotland. I wouldn’t be here without you.”<\/p>\n

The Scottish star\u00a0landed his breakout role as Robb Stark in HBO’s\u00a0Game of Thrones<\/em>. In addition to binge-watching\u00a0Bodygaurd<\/em> from the comfort of your own coach, pop culture fanatics can look forward to seeing Madden play\u00a0John Reid<\/strong> in the upcoming\u00a0Elton John<\/a><\/strong>biographical musical,\u00a0Rocketman<\/em>.<\/p>\n
