This is some out of this world TV news: Steve Carell<\/a><\/strong> is teaming with The Office<\/em> executive producer Greg Daniels<\/strong> for a new workplace comedy, Space Force<\/em>. Carell is on board to star in and executive produce the new Netflix comedy series.<\/p>\n

According to Netflix, the new series is a workplace comedy centered around the people tasked with creating a sixth brand of the armed services\u2026Space Force<\/em>. You may recall President Donald Trump<\/a><\/strong> discussing the creation of a Space Force in the summer of 2018, now meet the (fictional) people tasked with making this space unit a reality.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Carell co-created the series with Daniels. Daniels, who was also behind King of the Hill<\/em> and Parks and Recreation<\/em>, will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Howard Klein<\/strong> is also on board as an executive producer.<\/p>\n

No additional details, including other stars or premiere date, have been announced.<\/p>\n

Carell is also part of the cast of the untitled Apple drama<\/a> co-starring and executive produced by Reese Witherspoon<\/a><\/strong> and Jennifer Aniston<\/a><\/strong>. These two shows are his first series regular TV gigs since leaving The Office<\/em> in 2011.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

While this isn’t the rumored The Office<\/em> revival fans have hoped for, it sounds pretty darn close. Carell said a revival with him as Michael Scott wouldn’t work in this social climate.<\/p>\n

“I mean, the whole idea of that character, Michael Scott, so much of it was predicated on inappropriate behavior. I mean, he’s certainly not a model boss. A lot of what is depicted on that show is completely wrong-minded. That’s the point, you know? But I just don’t know how that would fly now. There’s a very high awareness of offensive things today\u2014which is good, for sure. But at the same time, when you take a character like that too literally, it doesn’t really work,” he said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
