In fact, Irish bookmaker Paddy Power is so convinced by the influx of people putting their money on Baby Sussex being a girl that they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/news\/royal\/1071484\/meghan-markle-baby-due-baby-gender-odds-revealed-prince-harry\" target=\"_blank\">suspended all future betting<\/a> on the infant&#8217;s gender. As for the likely moniker honoring Harry&#8217;s beloved late mother, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/princess_diana\">Princess Diana<\/a><\/strong>, it&#8217;s the odds-on favorite at 8\/1 but a slew of other names rooted in the monarchy&#8217;s storied history\u2014think Alice, Victoria, Grace and Elizabeth\u2014have also made the list.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Never mind that the couple, who will mark their first wedding anniversary mere weeks after their child&#8217;s arrival, have yet to confirm the gender, mostly because, uh, they don&#8217;t know it. (And we&#8217;re guessing the handful of\u00a0people that do, namely the physicians, nurses and ultrasound technician&#8217;s tasked with Meghan&#8217;s care\u00a0aren&#8217;t exactly racing to spill the news to bookkeepers.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"63.805609284333\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"19.63249516441\">\n<p>While Meghan let slip her general due date\u2014some time in mid-to-late April\u2014during her and Harry&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1004750\/meghan-markle-reveals-her-due-date-on-walkabout-with-prince-harry\" target=\"_blank\">Monday visit<\/a> to Birkenhead, Merseyside, she &#8220;said she didn&#8217;t know whether they were having a boy or a girl,&#8221; <em>Daily Mail<\/em> correspondent Rebecca English <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RE_DailyMail\/status\/1084792228487278594\" target=\"_blank\">tweeted<\/a>. &#8220;She said she wants it to be a surprise!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What hasn&#8217;t been left up to chance, though, is just how ready the pair are to embark on this next adventure. Long before they were set up on that fateful 2016 blind date that changed the course of each of their lives along with the\u00a0face of the British monarchy, both the 37-year-old <em>Suits<\/em> actress and Britain&#8217;s affable prince, 34, were speculating about the future that awaited them. And though it&#8217;d be hard to argue they were on similar paths, what with Meghan carving out a career in the ultra-competitive world of acting and\u00a0Harry having the whole of his life planned out for him thanks to the luck of genetics,\u00a0they were both certain\u00a0they&#8217;d arrive at the same destination: taking care of\u00a0miniature versions of themselves.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-3\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"41.695760598504\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"26.533665835411\">\n<p>&#8220;Of course, I would love to have kids right now, but there is a process that one has to go through,&#8221; Harry <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/prince-interview-when-rhiannon-met-harry-10360003\" target=\"_blank\">told Britain&#8217;s <em>Sky News<\/em><\/a> in 2015,\u00a0having been on his most earnest search yet for a suitably intriguing princess following his split from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/cressida_bonas\">Cressida Bonas<\/a><\/strong>the previous year.\u00a0&#8220;It would be great to have someone else next to me, but the time will come. Whatever happens, happens.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What happened, naturally, is that Harry let it slip to childhood pal\u00a0<strong>Violet von Westenholz\u00a0<\/strong>just how eager he was to get the show on the road so to speak, and the Ralph Lauren publicist realized <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/908595\/countdown-to-the-royal-wedding-prince-harry-and-meghan-markle-s-secret-matchmaker-finally-revealed\" target=\"_blank\">she knew the perfect match<\/a>, a strong independent type with a passion for philanthropy and the same deep-seated desire to contribute to the next generation.<\/p>\n<p>Her professional life coming along swimmingly,\u00a0Meghan was thrilled to have realized one of her childhood ambitions. But her bucket list was far from complete. &#8220;My life is more amazing than I ever thought it could be. I dreamt of becoming a successful working actress, which I can now very thankfully tick off the list. Raising a family will be a wonderful part of that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Now the former network television star has a new gig that affords her the opportunity to see the world, or, at the very least, much of the 53 countries in the Commonwealth that she&#8217;s now a youth ambassador for, and a place at Windsor Castle that she will be very much anchored to when she and Harry start bringing up baby this spring. And her dear husband will very much be a wonderful part of that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Birkenhead local Rebecca Blundell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-6593743\/Mother-reveals-Meghan-gushed-Prince-Harrys-parenting-skills.html\" target=\"_blank\">told <em>The Daily Mail<\/em><\/a> she was impressed with the attention the royal lavished on her daughters Lily, 6, and Lottie, 2, as he chatted with them\u00a0ahead of their visit to\u00a0a not-for-profit supermarket and cafe and a youth facility. &#8220;Meghan then came and I asked her if she was excited for the impending arrival,&#8221; Blundell told the outlet. &#8220;She said she was thrilled and that Harry would be a fantastic father. I replied that she would be a fantastic mother and she looked really touched.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-5\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"36.675818373812\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"15.442449841605\">\n<p>The pair&#8217;s natural affinity for children has been on display from their very first joint event in last 2017.\u00a0Each time the duo walk along the queue of fans gathered to greet them at their engagements\u2014the standard royal procedure known as a walkabout\u2014they always seek out the elementary school set, taking time to ask children&#8217;s names, offer hugs and accept bouquets of flowers and carefully drawn cards from their tiny hands.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Such was the case on Monday when the duo encountered a group of kids with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1005554\/meghan-markle-and-prince-harry-have-a-touching-moment-with-blind-fans\" target=\"_blank\">a special request<\/a>. When they learned the children were blind and unable to catch sight of them, local member of parliament\u00a0Frank Field <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/royals\/meghan-markle-prince-harry-let-blind-children-touch-faces\/\" target=\"_blank\">told <em>People<\/em><\/a>, &#8220;Both of them went down on their haunches so the children could touch their faces.&#8221; And when Meghan\u00a0saw twitter TracyMarie&#8217;s young niece, the six-months-pregnant duchess &#8220;went down on the floor to take a card she had made for her in braille,&#8221; TracyMarie <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TraceyMariex\/status\/1084935922825809920\" target=\"_blank\">wrote<\/a>. &#8220;They&#8217;ll make great parents.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-7\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"64.355504587156\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"28.298165137615\">\n<p>For their first act, they&#8217;re already taking steps to give their heir the sort of idyllic childhood Meghan experienced whilst growing up in L.A.&#8217;s San Fernando Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Though Harry spent his early years romping around the same Kensington Palace grounds that his nephews and niece <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/prince_george\">Prince George<\/a><\/strong>, 5, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/princess_charlotte\">Princess Charlotte<\/a><\/strong>, 3, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/prince_louis\">Prince Louis<\/a><\/strong>, 9 months, now call home, he was hoping for something a bit more remote for his own offspring. Quite simply, as one insider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-6427495\/The-REAL-reason-Harry-Meghan-moving-away-William-Kate.html\" target=\"_blank\">put it to <em>The Daily Mail<\/em><\/a>, Harry is keen &#8220;to escape the goldfish bowl of royal life.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Looking to upgrade from their Kensington Palace digs, the quaintly charming, but still quite small two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage, the newlyweds were offered a plethora of options, including Apartment 1, the misleadingly named palatial 21-room spread next door to his older brother <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/prince_william\">Prince William<\/a><\/strong> and wife <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/kate_middleton\">Kate Middleton<\/a><\/strong>. Many assumed that was the spot the pair, and their offspring, would eventually call home with current residents, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester reportedly more than happy to vacate to a smaller Kensington property.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"block-8-img\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"31\">\n<div class=\"post-content__image\" readability=\"32\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image--full\" src=\"https:\/\/akns-images.eonline.com\/eol_images\/Entire_Site\/2018919\/rs_1024x759-181019070150-1024-Meghan-Markle-Prince-Harry-Beach-AUS-LT-101918.jpg?fit=inside|900:auto&amp;output-quality=90\" border=\"0\" title=\"Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Bondi Beach\" alt=\"Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Bondi Beach\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"759\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"image__credits\">Paul Edwards\/The Sun\/PA Wire<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-8\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"40\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"20\">\n<p>But upon returning from their first major tour\u2014a 16-day whirlwind through Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga that saw them answering endless prying questions about their baby on the way\u2014they revealed they had made a different choice, telling aides to start plans on the renovation of Windsor&#8217;s 20-room Frogmore House.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The site of their May wedding reception, the country spread is no doubt &#8220;a very special place for their royal highnesses,&#8221; as the palace said in a statement. But that&#8217;s just one reason the cottage appealed to the expectant pair. Even in their new, far more public digs, William and Kate have remained committed to giving their brood\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/928271\/how-prince-william-and-kate-middleton-ensure-their-kids-lives-remain-surprisingly-normal\" target=\"_blank\">as normal a childhood<\/a>\u00a0as is possible for a trio of title holders.\u00a0A green space\u00a0adjacent to their palace home gives the tots a place to run around, but should they wish to\u00a0have a little more legroom at nearby Kensington Gardens, they open themselves to prying, curious eyes\u00a0and photographers&#8217; lenses.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-10\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"44.204545454545\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"32.571770334928\">\n<p>&#8220;The Cambridges have their garden in the back, which is nice,&#8221; a source told\u00a0<em>The Daily Mail<\/em>, &#8220;but there is no real other space for children to play in.&#8221; By contrast, Frogmore House\u00a0at Windsor &#8220;is secluded, peaceful, tranquil and, most importantly, private,&#8221; said the source. &#8220;No one will see them coming or going.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Plus it comes with one very enthusiastic review. Having grown up in Windsor alongside older sister\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/princess_beatrice\">Princess Beatrice<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/princess_eugenie\">Princess Eugenie<\/a><\/strong>, who now shares a Kensington home with new husband\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/jack_brooksbank\">Jack Brooksbank<\/a><\/strong>, regaled Harry and Meghan with tales of her happy memories. &#8220;It was actually Princess Eugenie who convinced them to make the decision,&#8221; a source\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/990264\/meghan-markle-and-prince-harry-are-moving-away-from-kensington-palace\" target=\"_blank\">revealed to\u00a0<em>Us Weekly<\/em><\/a>, &#8220;as she had such a wonderful, peaceful childhood on the grounds of Windsor.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s precisely what Harry and Meghan are hoping for their future brood.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.elle.com\/uk\/life-and-culture\/news\/a26855\/more-than-an-other\/\" target=\"_blank\">Speaking to\u00a0<em>Elle<\/em><\/a>\u00a0in 2015, Meghan waxed on about being raised in a picturesque area of Los Angeles, describing her neighborhood as &#8220;leafy and affordable.&#8221; And though she will be bringing up her child some\u00a05,000 miles and an ocean away, she&#8217;s still hoping to replicate that quaint slice of suburbia. &#8220;They want their children to grow up in as normal an environment as possible,&#8221; shared the source.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-12\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"62.488290398126\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"19.227166276347\">\n<p>Albeit, one with the type of luxuries afforded a member of the monarchy, even one as unlikely to take a throne as Meghan and Harry&#8217;s eldest, who will be born\u00a0seventh in line and move down the\u00a0hierarchy\u00a0each time one of their cousins has a child.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Up until recently, Frogmore House had been used as staff quarters,\u00a0and the five separate apartments hadn&#8217;t been kept in the best of condition. &#8220;It&#8217;s pretty dilapidated now,&#8221; royal biographer Ingrid Seward, author of <em>My Husband and I<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/royals\/meghan-markle-and-prince-harrys-new-frogmore-cottage-home-is-pretty-dilapidated-now\/\" target=\"_blank\">told <em>People<\/em><\/a>. Just 20 minutes from Frogmore and a world away from London&#8217;s\u00a0busy Paddington area, &#8220;It will be much less chaos and more of a private even than if she gives birth in London,&#8221; a source <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/meghan-markle-prince-harry-eyeing-hospital-for-delivery\/\" target=\"_blank\">told <em>Us Weekly<\/em><\/a>. Though Meghan, who&#8217;s reportedly been reading up on hypnobirthing, a mind-body technique <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/243099\/jessica-alba-planning-a-hypnobirth-so-what-the-heck-is-that\" target=\"_blank\">employed<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pregnancymagazine.com\/pregnancy\/tiffani-thiessen\" target=\"_blank\">the likes<\/a> of\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/jessica_alba\">Jessica Alba<\/a><\/strong> and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/tiffani_thiessen\">Tiffani Thiessen<\/a><\/strong> in the hopes of having a calmer, less painful natural birthing experience, could also opt for a home birth.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But so far, aside from telling one hypnobirthing instructor at Monday&#8217;s engagement that what she does is a &#8220;special thing&#8221;, Meghan has yet to give any indication of how she intends to welcome Baby Sussex into this world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-16\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"64.498448810755\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"21.499482936918\">\n<p>Nor has she answered\u00a0the question that seems to be the one most frequently bandied about: Just what do they intend to call their little one? (Or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cosmopolitan.com\/uk\/reports\/a25297745\/meghan-markle-prince-harry-twins-royal-baby\/\" target=\"_blank\">little ones<\/a>, if one particularly popular theory is to be believed.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Everyone has a suggestion, with Meghan admitting to a group of Australian schoolchildren just days after their big announcement that they already had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/978298\/meghan-markle-and-prince-harry-have-a-long-list-of-baby-names\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;long list&#8221;<\/a> of suggestions to look them over.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She received another during Monday&#8217;s walkabout\u00a0when 7-year-old Megan Redford\u00a0offered up Amy as an option, the name of Meghan&#8217;s assistant private secretary Amy Pickerill. &#8220;I asked her whether she would call her baby Amy if she has a girl,&#8221;\u00a0Redford told <em>The Daily Mail<\/em>, &#8220;and she said, &#8216;That&#8217;s a really pretty name.
