It’s the most wonderful time of the year\u2014award season!\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kumail Nanjiani<\/strong> and Tracee Ellis Ross<\/a><\/strong> announced the nominees<\/a> for the 2019 Oscars<\/a><\/strong> on Tuesday.\u00a0Roma<\/em> and The Favourite<\/em>\u00a0were\u00a0among the top contenders with\u00a010 nods each. A Star Is Born<\/em> and Vice<\/em>\u00a0were also frontrunners, each getting eight nominations. In addition, Black Panther<\/em> received seven nominations and made history<\/a> by becoming the first comic book movie to be up for Best Picture.\u00a0However, fans will have to wait until the big night to see who wins.<\/p>\n

Of course, the nominees were thrilled about the recognition.<\/p>\n

“Everyone who worked on this film truly risked putting themselves out there\u2014in the hope that in doing so people will connect and feel something deep and personal\u2014the way films have made me feel since I was a kid,” Bradley Cooper<\/a><\/strong>, who was snubbed<\/a> of a best director nomination, said. “When I got this opportunity I knew I had to risk it all because I may never get another chance\u2014so to be here today in a place where people who have seen the film are talking about how it makes them feel, something deep\u2014that simple human thing\u2014that we need each other\u2014and the Academy to recognize that this morning\u2014I just am so grateful.”<\/p>\n

“Seven #OscarsNoms for #BlackPanther\u00a0including best picture!!” the actress wrote on Twitter alongside a video of the cast rejoicing. “This is our reaction the first time we saw footage from the film and we’re feeling this way all over again today! Thank you @<\/strike>TheAcademy!\u00a0#<\/s>WakandaForever\u00a0#<\/s>Oscars.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
