Ben Affleck<\/a><\/strong> is removing his cape for the upcoming rendition in the\u00a0Batman<\/em> series.<\/p>\n

Despite his roles in\u00a0Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice<\/em>\u00a0and Justice League,\u00a0<\/em>the 2021 film\u00a0The Batman<\/em> will have a new leading man. According to\u00a0Deadline<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0The Batman<\/em> is scheduled to hit theaters June 25, 2021 and will reportedly center around a younger Bruce Wayne.<\/p>\n

Affleck initially signed on to direct, co-write and star in the film, but in 2017, he stepped down as director and was replaced<\/a> by Matt Reeves<\/strong>. “I have loved the Batman story since I was a child. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply,” Reeves said in a statement at the time. “I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen.”<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the\u00a0Gone Girl<\/em> star seemingly confirmed on Twitter his\u00a0forthcoming absence from\u00a0The Batman<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“Excited for #TheBatman<\/a>\u00a0in Summer 2021 and to see @MattReevesLA vision come to life,” Affleck tweeted with a link to the\u00a0Deadline<\/em> article.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

According to IMDb, some fellow cast members include\u00a0Joe Manganiello<\/a><\/strong>, J.K. Simmons<\/strong> and Jeremy Irons<\/a><\/strong>There’s no word yet as to who will replace Affleck in the next movie.<\/p>\n

Jon Hamm<\/a><\/strong>, however, might have some interest. He fits the look, too, with his well-coiffed and slicked back hair. The\u00a0Mad Men<\/em> star told\u00a0Graham Bensinger\u00a0<\/strong>in September that he would “probably fit the [Batman] suit<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

But there’s one caveat for Hamm in terms of joining the franchise. He added, “I am a huge comic book fan, always have been…it depends on the story. It all comes down to the story.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Around the same time that Hamm made the pitch about\u00a0Batman<\/em>, fellow superhero Henry Cavill<\/a><\/strong> stepped down as Superman<\/a>\u00a0and hung up his cape.<\/p>\n

Reeves recently hinted at what\u00a0The Batman<\/em> will be about. He told\u00a0<\/a>Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> in an interview, “It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale. It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
