{"id":266889,"date":"2019-02-05T17:20:54","date_gmt":"2019-02-06T00:20:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/b1011855"},"modified":"2019-02-05T17:20:54","modified_gmt":"2019-02-06T00:20:54","slug":"why-lauren-cohan-left-the-walking-dead-and-went-for-whiskey-cavalier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kidn\/music-news\/why-lauren-cohan-left-the-walking-dead-and-went-for-whiskey-cavalier\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Lauren Cohan Left The Walking Dead and Went For Whiskey Cavalier"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/akns-images.eonline.com\/eol_images\/Entire_Site\/2018930\/rs_600x600-181030125313-600-19-twd-lincoln-ch-103018.jpg?fit=around|600:467&amp;crop=600:467;center,top&amp;output-quality=90\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"\/><\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-0\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"45.239669421488\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"31.471074380165\">\n<p><strong>Lauren Cohan<\/strong> is about to do something very different than what she&#8217;s been used to for the past nine years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;s starring in the new ABC show <em>Whiskey Cavalier\u00a0<\/em>alongside Scott Foley as a somewhat apathetic spy after many seasons as a zombie survivor on <em>The Walking Dead<\/em>, and this new character is a big, &#8220;huge,&#8221; change for her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She gets to shower,&#8221; Cohan joked to a small group of reporters after the TV Critics Association panel for the new ABC show. &#8220;She brushes her hair, sometimes.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cohan&#8217;s last episode of <em>The Walking Dead\u00a0<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/988283\/the-walking-dead-finally-reveals-what-happened-to-lauren-cohan-s-maggie\" target=\"_blank\">aired in\u00a0the fall<\/a>. She wasn&#8217;t really written off, but she simply wasn&#8217;t around when the show made a six-year time jump. She was alive and well\u00a0somewhere else.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cohan has spoken about the decision to leave before, but she reiterated that her exit had nothing to do with the quality of the show in any way.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I never thought it was bad,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I was just like, I&#8217;ve done this show for a long time. It was a long time to play a character, and sometimes you just get quiet and listen to your inner guidance and it&#8217;s time to multitask,&#8221; she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"61.367875647668\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"15.585492227979\">\n<p>The truth is that Maggie could return, and Cohan says she&#8217;s &#8220;seeing what happens.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andrew Lincoln<\/strong> also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/983663\/andrew-lincoln-to-return-as-rick-grimes-in-multiple-walking-dead-movies\" target=\"_blank\">left the series<\/a> before that time jump, but his exit turned out to be a little different. He ended up getting his own series of <em>Walking Dead<\/em> movies as Rick Grimes, while Cohan is moving onto other projects. She did say that it&#8217;s not out of the question to get her own spinoff series or movie in some way.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There may have been some conversations, but everything is so ambiguous,&#8221; she said. &#8220;It&#8217;s early days. We&#8217;ll just have to\u2014me, as much as anybody\u2014see what happens.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-4\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"61.5\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"13\">\n<p>After her departure, Cohan says she &#8220;had the pick of the litter&#8221; in terms of roles, and there were a lot of reasons <em>Whiskey Cavalier<\/em> was the one she went with.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I got to go to a territory that was fun,&#8221; she said. &#8220;A light one hour fun show that also still has a lot of sentiment and a lot of heart, and for me, I&#8217;ve wanted to do comedy for so long, and this is sort of the perfect segue because I love action.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-5\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"67.5\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"25\">\n<p>Her new character, Frankie, is no Maggie, and she&#8217;s also very different from Cohan herself.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The character challenges me hugely because she doesn&#8217;t apologize and she doesn&#8217;t care, she just doesn&#8217;t understand why everybody doesn&#8217;t operate more like Frankie, and I&#8217;m not like that,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I&#8217;m concerned by how I&#8217;m going to affect someone with what I do. There&#8217;s a lot of freedom in playing somebody like this.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cohan explained that since the character&#8217;s a spy, she uses her femininity when she needs to, to do what she needs to do, but it&#8217;s not what she&#8217;s used to on <em>The Walking Dead<\/em> or in real life.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m not a girly girl on my time off, so it&#8217;s like, powder?
