Meghan Markle<\/a><\/strong>‘s baby shower is underway! The Duchess of Sussex was spotted leaving her hotel in New York City\u00a0ahead of the celebration with her closest pals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0expecting royal, who is due to give birth to her and\u00a0Prince Harry<\/a><\/strong>‘s first child in the spring,\u00a0secretly flew<\/a> from London to New York ahead of her baby shower, E! News confirmed. Cameras spotted Markle, donning sunglasses and a pea coat, cradling her baby bump as she headed to the celebration on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

“The flowers were spring colors in pretty pastel shades,” a source tells E! News of the shower’s floral decorations.\u00a0“There were pink roses and cherry blossom vines. There were tons of flowers delivered before the shower started in an unmarked van. There was also a large flat cardboard box that appeared to be a convertible crib.”<\/p>\n

Markle’s former\u00a0Suits<\/em>\u00a0co-star\u00a0Abigail Spencer<\/strong>\u00a0was spotted arriving to the baby shower on Tuesday, carrying a gift for her pal.<\/p>\n

“One of the first guests to arrive was Abigail Spencer,” the insider shares.\u00a0“She carried a present wrapped from Book Culture in blue and green.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“Meghan arrived on her own in a chauffeured SUV,” the source adds. “She wore a gray coat over black pants and her hair down. She held her baby bump and smiled as she walked in to the hotel.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Over the weekend, the mom-to-be was spotted visiting\u00a0Ladur\u00e9e restaurant and bakery in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood.<\/p>\n

A source told\u00a0Harper’s Bazaar<\/a><\/em>\u00a0that\u00a0Markle’s\u00a0trip to NYC was planned months ago,\u00a0sharing with the outlet, “The trip is a lovely chance to catch up with friends and spend time in a city she loves. This will be the last time a lot of them will see Meg until after the baby is born so it’s nice to share precious moments.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex\u00a0announced their pregnancy<\/a>\u00a0in October.<\/p>\n

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” the palace said in a statement. “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”<\/p>\n

The announcement was made shortly after the couple’s\u00a0arrival in Australia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Markle’s baby shower comes amid rumors that she and her husband may send their first child to an American school<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The royal couple\u00a0is\u00a0said to be considering sending\u00a0their child to the private, co-ed ACS Egham International School in Egham, Surrey,\u00a0formerly known as the American Community School.\u00a0ACS offers an American curriculum to students aged 4 to 18 and\u00a0is located\u00a0opposite Windsor Great Park, which is close to the duo’s future home of\u00a0Frogmore Cottage, on the Windsor estate.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
