“We Will Rock the OSCARS,” Adam Lambert<\/a><\/strong> exclaimed<\/a> ahead of the 2019 Oscars<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, the day has come for the 37-year-old star to take the stage with the legendary band\u00a0Queen<\/strong>\u00a0at the star-studded ceremony.\u00a0(Brian May<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Roger Taylor<\/strong>\u00a0are the two active members of the British band.)<\/p>\n

Because the Academy Awards lack a host this year, Lambert and the rock legends will open the awards show. Kevin Hart<\/a><\/strong> was slated to host the Oscars but stepped down after receiving backlash<\/a> for\u00a0past\u00a0tweets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking to E! News’ Live From the Red Carpet host\u00a0Ryan Seacrest<\/a><\/strong>, the American Idol<\/em> alum says performing at the Oscars is “surreal.”<\/p>\n

“I lived in Los Angeles for 17\u00a0<\/span>years and to open the Oscars, I\u00a0<\/span>never would have dreamed this is\u00a0<\/span>possible,<\/span>” he shares.<\/p>\n

He continues, “Queen and I have been working\u00a0<\/span>together for six years and been\u00a0<\/span>traveling the world and we’re\u00a0<\/span>performing this song in\u00a0<\/span>celebration of Bohemian Rhapsody<\/em>\u2014 everybody\u00a0<\/span>worked hard and we’re\u00a0<\/span>celebrating together<\/span>.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Adam has been touring with the legendary band since 2011 and tonight he hopes to do justice to\u00a0Freddie Mercury<\/strong>‘s hit songs.<\/p>\n

While the band isn’t quite the same without the late Mercury,\u00a0he tells Seacrest that\u00a0May and Taylor\u00a0<\/strong>once told him, “‘If Freddy was here with us\u00a0<\/span>still, you guys would get a big\u00a0<\/span>kick out of each other,’ [which]\u00a0<\/span>means a lot to me.”<\/span><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Along with the Queen performance,\u00a0Bohemian Rhapsody<\/em> has received critical acclaim. The biopic, which focuses on the band’s late frontman Freddie Mercury, is nominated for five awards tonight, including the coveted Best Picture category.<\/p>\n

Rami Malek<\/a><\/strong>, who took home a\u00a02019 Golden Globe<\/a> for his performance as Mercury,\u00a0is also nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role. This marks his first Oscars nomination.<\/p>\n
