Zooey Deschanel<\/a><\/strong> and Jacob Pechenik<\/strong> have called it quits.<\/p>\n

The New Girl<\/em> alum and her film producer beau have split after four years of marriage. <\/p>\n

“After much discussion and a long period of contemplation we have decided we are better off as friends, business partners and co-parents rather than life partners,” Zooey and Jacob tell E! News in a joint statement. “We remain committed to our business, our values and most of all our children. Thank you for respecting our privacy at this time.”<\/p>\n

The private pair secretly tied the knot<\/a> in 2015, shortly before welcoming daughter Elsie Otter Pechenik<\/strong>. E! News confirmed at the time that the wedding took place in Austin on June 21.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

In 2017, Zooey and Jacob welcomed their second child together, a son named Charlie Wolf Pechenik<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Hollywood duo became engaged<\/a> in 2015 after Jacob proposed on her birthday, Jan. 17. They celebrated the special day on Catalina Island.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
