But, frankly, she&#8217;s Jennifer Aniston. And if she opens a movie or makes a return to the small screen (ahem,&nbsp;<em>The Morning Show<\/em>&nbsp;will premiere on Apple TV+ Nov. 1) people are going to watch.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As for the rest of it, well, it felt like a bit much, the actress&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1070235\/why-jennifer-aniston-says-no-to-social-media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">admitting&nbsp;in October&#8217;s&nbsp;<em>InStyle<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;that she worried about how social media played with people&#8217;s sense of self-worth: &#8220;It&#8217;s &#8216;like me, don&#8217;t like me, did I get liked?&#8217; There&#8217;s all this comparing and despairing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So we&#8217;ll refrain from commenting&nbsp;on just how well-liked her&nbsp;Tuesday&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1082922\/jennifer-aniston-joins-instagram-and-shares-selfie-with-friends-cast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram debut<\/a>&nbsp;was and&nbsp;simply say, as far as first posts go, it was pretty much perfect. Really, a simple selfie would have likely garnered plenty of buzz and excitement, but Aniston (having spent a few weeks&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1083674\/jennifer-aniston-admits-she-stalked-everyone-on-instagram-before-joining-the-site\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">doing her research<\/a>)&nbsp;<em>went<\/em>&nbsp;for it, giving fans a glimpse of a recent get together she&#8217;d had with her old&nbsp;<em>Friends<\/em>&nbsp;costars&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/courteney_cox\">Courteney Cox<\/a><\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/lisa_kudrow\">Lisa Kudrow<\/a><\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/matthew_perry\">Matthew Perry<\/a><\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/matt_leblanc\">Matt LeBlanc<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/david_schwimmer\">David Schwimmer<\/a><\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"56.470588235294\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"15.882352941176\">\n<p>Because, guys, she misses it too. Nostalgia for the venerable NBC hit is alive and well judging by the number of people eager to turn Aniston&#8217;s foray onto&nbsp;the platform into a show-related pun. Cox, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B3qAliTDY0X\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">welcomed her friend<\/a>&nbsp;to &#8220;the social media world&#8221; using her infamous line from the pilot. (&#8220;It sucks. You&#8217;re going to love it.&#8221;) <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/jennifer_garner\">Jennifer Garner<\/a><\/strong> enacted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B3pmIpRjH92\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">an entire scene<\/a> using&nbsp;a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1063157\/the-one-where-friends-becomes-a-lego-set-for-its-25th-anniversary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LEGO anniversary set<\/a>. Aniston pal <strong>Derek Blasberg<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B3r4EyzgZh3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dubbed the moment<\/a>, &#8220;just kick-you-in-the-crotch, spit-on-your-neck fantastic.&#8221; And&nbsp;pretty much everyone else reached for some variation on&nbsp;The One Where Jen Joined Instagram.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a reason the comedy still resonates with fans, who are able to stream it on the daily&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/993090\/you-won-t-believe-how-much-netflix-is-reportedly-paying-to-keep-friends\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">using Netflix<\/a> and, starting next year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1055462\/it-s-official-friends-is-leaving-netflix-for-hbo-max-in-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HBO Max<\/a>.&nbsp;Save for a few cringe-y lines (and the utter absence of a <em>Friend<\/em> of color) the show holds up 25 years after it debuted. Plus, it&#8217;s really freaking funny.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-4\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"65.668874172185\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"23.523178807947\">\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a comfort-food show,&#8221; co-creator <strong>Marta Kauffman<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/tv\/tv-features\/friends-creator-marta-kauffman-interview-805439\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> in March. &#8220;These are trying times, and certain people want the comfort food rather than the difficult, mean-spirited kind of show. It&#8217;s warm, it&#8217;s cozy, [the characters] love each other. What&#8217;s not to love about that?&#8221; <br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>For, Aniston, it reminds her of one of the&nbsp;most enjoyable&nbsp;times of her career when she went to work every day with her best friends and cracked jokes for a living. (&#8220;I got in at 10 and was out by 5,&#8221; she told <em>InStyle<\/em>.) It&#8217;s sort of how regular people look back on college.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In a way, being on that show was the ultimate trust exercise,&#8221; she told the mag. &#8220;There was comfort in numbers there, so we all held each other up. I miss a lot about that time. Having a job that was absolute, pure joy. I miss getting to be with people I love massively and respect beyond words. So, yes, these days I&#8217;m super nostalgic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-5\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"41.463339222615\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"25.735865724382\">\n<p>Of course, the sextet could just get together for dinners at their various mansions, scattered across the L.A. area, which they do according to Aniston&#8217;s&nbsp;opening Instagram salvo. Just not as often as any of them would like.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While the women <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1051594\/jennifer-aniston-lisa-kudrow-and-courteney-cox-tease-friends-reunion-during-girls-night\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">get together<\/a> on the regular, and are there for each other in the form of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/courteney-cox-lisa-kudrow-in-a-group-text-with-jen-aniston\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ongoing group text<\/a>, it&#8217;s proven tough to get the male half of the group involved.&nbsp; &#8220;There&#8217;s six friends, and I have been trying to put together a cast dinner for ten years,&#8221; Cox <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/2014\/04\/cox-on-friends-reunion-not-gonna-happen.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">admitted<\/a> to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/david_letterman\">David Letterman<\/a><\/strong> in 2014 when asked about a potential movie reunion. &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t happen. I mean, I can get the girls to come, maybe Matthew Perry. Matt LeBlanc cancelled last time, Schwimmer lives [in New York City,] so it&#8217;s just not going to happen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In other words, it could be another decade-and-a-half until Aniston can get more prime Insta content. So perhaps that&#8217;s why they keep dangling the dream that just <em>maybe<\/em>&nbsp;they&#8217;ll all return to network TV. Together. As the lovable, giant New York City apartment-dwelling family we all remember from our youths. It&#8217;s the only way to guarantee they&#8217;ll&nbsp;all be in the same room.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-6\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"40.054910714286\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"22.199107142857\">\n<p>Apparently it was a topic of conversation at their early October gathering. &#8220;We all happened to have a window of time so we all got together,&#8221;&nbsp;Aniston revealed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1080665\/jennifer-aniston-reveals-her-relationship-status-and-what-she-hates-about-dating\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">during an interview<\/a> on <em>The Howard Stern Show<\/em>. &#8220;We laughed so hard.&#8221; And amongst&nbsp;the telling of inside jokes and catching up on each other&#8217;s lives, they reminisced a bit about the way things were: &#8220;We all miss it every day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So it&#8217;s not as if they all haven&#8217;t tried to work out a way to get the gang back together. During <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/595716\/lisa-kudrow-reunites-with-courteney-cox-talks-favorite-friends-episode-and-ideal-cast-reunion-see-the-pic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a&nbsp;2014&nbsp;AMA session<\/a>, Kudrow told fans, getting &#8220;to spend that much time with those people again would be heaven!&#8221; And Aniston offered up her services in coming up with a new angle.&nbsp;&#8220;Courteney and Lisa and I talk about it. I fantasize about it,&#8221; she has told <em>InStyle<\/em>. &#8220;It really was the greatest job I ever had. I don&#8217;t know what it would look like today, but you never know. Having hit it off straightaway when filming began in the late nineties, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1051837\/why-the-women-of-friends-seem-to-say-i-ll-be-there-for-you-much-more-than-the-men\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">source told E! News<\/a>, &#8220;They grew up together and went through this formidable life experience that was <em>Friends<\/em>.&#8221; So much like you might meet up with coworkers from your first job, they make it a point to get happy hours on their calendar. &#8220;Geographically its not hard to be at Courteney&#8217;s Sunday dinners or at a pool party at Jen&#8217;s house,&#8221; notes the source. &#8220;They all feel incredibly close and always will be.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s just that no one is sure if that bond will translate back to the small screen. When you create lightening in&nbsp;a bottle, trying to get it to strike twice is incredibly perilous. As Aniston reasoned to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/howard_stern\">Howard Stern<\/a><\/strong>, there&#8217;s potential for more risk than reward: &#8220;If there&#8217;s a reboot of the show, it won&#8217;t be as good as what it was so why do it? It would ruin it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-9\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"65.256908904811\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"21.75230296827\">\n<p>Kaufman agrees, telling <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> that&#8217;s her chief reason for not even sketching out what a new episode could look like. &#8220;One, the show is about a time in your life when your friends are your family. It&#8217;s not that time anymore. All we&#8217;d be doing is putting those six actors back together, but the heart of the show would be gone,&#8221; she explained. &#8220;Two, I don&#8217;t know what good it does us. The show is doing just fine, people love it. [A reunion] could only disappoint. &#8216;The One Where Everyone&#8217;s Disappointed.'&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Besides, Joey lives in L.A. now and Chandler and Monica moved to Westchester, which might as well be across the country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That was a story about these group of people that are friends in their 30s who are finding themselves. I don&#8217;t know if there&#8217;s a way to redo it,&#8221; Cox&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tv\/friends-star-lisa-kudrow-doesnt-watch-show-reruns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told <em>People<\/em><\/a> last year.&nbsp;&#8220;I just don&#8217;t see it happening. Even though I would do anything to be in a room with all of those people acting and having a great time.
