On the heels of her critically acclaimed starring role in <em>The Farewell<\/em> (which came after her breakout roles in <em>Crazy Rich Asians<\/em> and <em>Ocean&#8217;s 8<\/em>), she has a new show coming to Comedy Central. And from the looks of it, <em>Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens<\/em> will fill the hole <em>Broad City<\/em> left in your heart.<\/p>\n<p>Coming in 2020, the new series created by and starring Awkwafina (whose real name is Nora Lum) is inspired by her real-life upbringing in Flushing, Queens. <strong>BD Wong<\/strong> plays her dad, <strong>Lori Tan Chinn<\/strong> is her grandmother and <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>&#8216;s <strong>Bowen Yang<\/strong> plays her cousin in the series that follows Nora Lin (Awkwafina) and she navigates life and young adulthood in New York City.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-3\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"67.489010989011\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"30.417582417582\">\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve been watching Comedy Central since I was old enough to hold a remote, and so many of their shows have defined who I am today,&#8221; Awkwafina said in a statement when the show was announced. &#8220;I am so honored to be given their platform to tell the story of an Asian American girl against the backdrop of the city I was raised.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The guest cast for the series includes <strong>Celia Au<\/strong>, <strong>Matthew Broussard<\/strong>, <strong>Michelle Buteau<\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/jamie_chung\">Jamie Chung<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/laverne_cox\">Laverne Cox<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Deborah S. Craig<\/strong>, <strong>Makeda Declet<\/strong>, <strong>Jennifer Esposito<\/strong>, <strong>Chrissie Fit<\/strong>, <strong>Chris Gethard<\/strong>, <strong>Bella Heathcote<\/strong>, <strong>Carmen M. Herlihy<\/strong>, <strong>Stephanie Hsu<\/strong>, <strong>David Krumholtz<\/strong>, <strong>Simu Liu<\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/natasha_lyonne\">Natasha Lyonne<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>John \u2018Dumbfoundead&#8217; Park<\/strong>, <strong>Matt Rogers<\/strong>, <strong>Harry Shum Jr.<\/strong>, <strong>Melissa Villase\u00f1or<\/strong>, <strong>Ming-Na Wen<\/strong> and <strong>Jaboukie Young-White<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"video-int-txt-4\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"38\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-video-text\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"16\">\n<p><em>Awkwafina is Nora From Queens<\/em> has a slate of predominantly female and diverse directors for the 10-episode series, including Natasha Lyonne, <strong>Lucia Aniello<\/strong>, <strong>Jamie Babbit<\/strong>, <strong>The Daniels<\/strong>,<strong> Steven Tsuchida<\/strong> and <strong>Anu Valia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Awkwafina, <strong>Karey Dornetto<\/strong>, Lucia Aniello, <strong>Teresa Hsiao<\/strong>, <strong>Peter Principato<\/strong> and <strong>Itay Reiss<\/strong> serve as executive producers.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-5\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"62\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"14\">\n<p>&#8220;This is a special project.
