There’s a new queen bee at Bayside High. E! News can confirm Josie Totah<\/strong> will star in the new Saved By the Bell<\/em> coming to the NBCUniversal streaming service Peacock<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> first broke news of Totah’s casting.<\/p>\n

Totah will play Lexi, the most popular girl\u2014and a cheerleader\u2014at Bayside who is just as loved as she is feared by her classmates. The new Saved By the Bell<\/a><\/em> also features original series stars Mario Lopez<\/a><\/strong> and Elizabeth Berkley<\/a><\/strong> reprising their roles of A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano in the reboot. They’re also on board as producers. Tracy Wigfield<\/strong> of 30 Rock<\/em> and Great News<\/em> is behind the new version of the series.<\/p>\n

The new Saved By the Bell<\/em> picks up with Governor Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar<\/a><\/strong>, who has yet to officially be confirmed as returning to the series<\/a>) sending low-income students to affluent high schools, including Bayside High.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Totah previously starred in NBC’s Champions<\/em> from Mindy Kaling<\/a><\/strong>. Following the show’s cancellation, she came out as transgender in an essay for Time<\/a> in 2018. Her other recent credits include The Other Two<\/em> and No Good Nick<\/em>. <\/p>\n

Saved By the Bell<\/em> is just one of the many new original shows coming to Peacock<\/a>. The streamer also has a Battlestar Galactica<\/em> reboot from Sam Esmail<\/strong>, Dr. Death<\/em> starring Alec Baldwin<\/a><\/strong>, Jamie Dornan<\/a><\/strong> and Christian Slater<\/a><\/strong>, Brand New World <\/em>with Demi Moore<\/a><\/strong>, Emmy Rossum<\/a><\/strong>‘s Angelyne<\/em> and new seasons of A.P. Bio<\/em>, a new Psych<\/em> movie and Ed Helms<\/a><\/strong> in Rutherford Falls<\/em>. A Punky Brewster<\/em> revival starring Soleil Moon Frye<\/strong> is also in the works.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Peacock<\/a> will also be home to a Saturday Night Live<\/em> docuseries Who Wrote That<\/em>, an original talk show from Jimmy Fallon<\/a><\/strong> and a weekly late-night series starring Amber Ruffin<\/strong> with Seth Meyers<\/a><\/strong> as executive producer.<\/p>\n

In terms of classic shows, Peacock will be the exclusive home to The Office<\/em> and Parks and Recreation<\/em>, and also feature 30 Rock<\/em>, Cheers<\/em>, Frasier,<\/em> Will & Grace<\/em>, Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/em> and more.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
