Awards season is in full swing and we’re almost at its peak (aka 2020 Oscars<\/a><\/strong>). But first, let’s honor the best in independent film.<\/p>\n

The 2020 Film Independent Spirit Awards<\/strong> were held on Saturday and were hosted by returning host Aubrey Plaza<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Top nominated movies included The Lighthouse<\/em> and Uncut Gems<\/em>, and main star Adam Sandler also received an individual nod. The latter film was also nominated for Best Feature, as was Marriage Story<\/em>, starring Scarlett Johansson<\/a><\/strong>, Adam Driver<\/a><\/strong> and Laura Dern<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The award ceremony took place in Santa Monica, California and aired live on IFC.<\/p>\n
